You know I have no evidence. I'm applying Occam's Razor here like I do with any number of situations. It just makes way more sense to me that Lebron is talking with other players about all kinds of issues than he isn't.
But why? Occam’s Razor is not just, “that’s what I’d like to think,” it’s the simplest answer.
If we take LeBron at his word (and I do) he is against this workplace behavior from owners and players. If you believe there are reasons to talk to players privately, there are reasons to talk to owners privately as well. LeBron chose to publicly come down on the owner and NBA management for this. He’s stressing equality of responsibility, but you assume inequality of his response, and I don’t understand that.
Well there's a 40 page report here prepared by an independent firm as the result of tons of interviews and digging. And then the NBA acted on that report.
It would be odd for LeBron to not comment on that, to be honest. He's still the face of the NBA. I mean you have to understand how this is different in a number of ways than conduct by an individual player in an isolated incident off the court?
I get your point, and I wasn’t surprised that he commented, but he chose to make more than a comment - he told the NBA owners that they got the punishment wrong - that it wasn’t harsh enough. That’s cool .. but I haven’t seen any indication in his whole career that he’s ever even talked about a slap on the wrist for a player’s actions.
The other question this brings up is .. why? (why would he do that?). I believe LeBron and his media team are exceptional at maintaining his presence, and every word in these tweets that has been thoroughly vetted. I expected maybe a comment from him or the NBA, but I was surprised that he publicly disagreed with them on the punishment, and surprised he equated workplace behavior between owners and players. He didn’t have to do either (and I’m sure his media staff told him so), but he CHOSE to. We may never know his actual reasons, and a cynic might say he just wanted to improve his image as a businessman. However, inserting the players makes me like to think that this is an issue that matters to him, and that as the El Jefe of the NBA, he’s giving players a general warning to clean up their act too to avoid any image of hypocrisy.
