LA Receives: Conley, Fournier, Gay

NY Trades: Fournier, Reddish, Quickly
NY Receives: Bogie, Clarkson

Utah gets rid of their older veterans that can help some teams, frees up some cap space by buying out Westbrook, gets more draft capital.
LA gets rid of Westbrook and only sends out 1 of their 2 picks to do it. Gets some veteran help in Conley and Gay and a shooter in Fournier to help Lebron in win now mode.
New York trades Reddish who reports say he wants out, Quickly is redundant with Brunson so he gets moved and Fournier gets upgraded to Bogie. They also receive a scorer in Clarkson.

I don't hate it for Jazz but highly doubt Leon Rose is going to answer any calls from Ainge in the near future with all the egg on his face. Lakers apparently want expiring contracts in return for Westbrook. Don't think they would take on Conley, Fournier, or Gay.

I think Fournier's 3 years might be a snag, but I don't think Conley or Gay's 2 years are a big issue. The Lakers have 2 years of Lebron so it's time now to make something happen. That's supposedly why they traded THT for Bev.

For NY, I think circumstances saved them from doing something stupid. Brunson/Mitchell backcourt was going to be horrific defensively. But a little change without giving up so much might save some face with the fans.

Agreed but I do think Klutch may have potentially promised to deliver the Lakers one of their clients in free agency next summer before Lebron signed the extension...at least that's my theory why they apparently don't want to take on any salary that runs past this season outside of AD/Lebron + a few min guys. Lakers should have well over $20 mil in capspace once Westbrook's contract comes off their books assuming they don't take on any salary that runs past this season. FWIW Gary Trent Jr, Jerami Grant are the 2 big Klutch FA clients next summer. Ex Lakers Josh Hart and Larry Nance Jr will also be FA's next summer. I think they are cooking something for next offseason even if it means basically punting this season with Westbrook.

I'd really love Danny to continue working some magic and trade our hideous jersey's for a good looking one. I'm willing to throw in a FRP.

Unfortunately, that's the one thing he can't do. We all have our limits.

Just a bunch of stuff assuming the Westbrook deal doesn't happen (praying it does):

Consider them connected or not, this is me throwing things at the wall to see if anything sticks.

Trade 1:
UTA trades: Lauri Markkenen, Udoka Azubuike (separate, into CHA cap for fake 2nd), 2023 DEN 1st (1-14 thru 2025, 2 2nds), 2026 PHX 2nd, 2027 PHX 2nd
UTA receives: Landry Shamet

CHA trades: Mason Plumlee, 2023 DEN 1st (1-14 thru 2025, 2 2nds)
CHA receives: Lauri Markkenen, Udoka Azubuike

PHX trades: Landry Shamet, 2026 PHX 2nd, 2027 PHX 2nd
PHX receives: Mason Plumlee

Utah adds picks and takes a shot at developing Shamet. Charlotte gets a F/C to replace some of the scoring lost with Bridges and a free look at Doke (who might make a reasonable backup center at this point). Phoenix improves at backup center and moves off of future salary.

Trade 2:
UTA trades: Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic
UTA receives: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Cam Payne, 2023 ATL 1st (1-14 protected, otherwise 2024 & 2025 OKC 2nds), 2025 PHX 2nd
Utah takes on future money to return a first round pick.

PHX trades: Jae Crowder, Cam Payne, Torrey Craig, 2025 PHX 2nd
PHX receives: Mike Conley, Mo Harkless
Phoenix sets themselves up to have 48 minutes of fantastic point guard play.

ATL trades: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Justin Holiday, Mo Harkless, 2023 ATL 1st (1-14 protected, otherwise 2024 & 2025 OKC 2nds)
ATL receives: Bojan Bogdanovic, Jae Crowder, Torrey Craig, 2023 POR 2nd
Atlanta gets the better Bogdanovic, and builds out a team with switchy forward depth around Young and Murray.

BOS trades: 2023 POR 2nd
BOS receives: Justin Holiday (into TPE)

Trade 3:
UTA trades: Malik Beasley
DEN trades: Jeff Green (waived), Ish Smith (waived), Vlatko Cancar (waived), Peyton Watson
Denver returns a player who was really close to Murray who has developed into one of the best high-volume three-point snipers in the league. Utah gets a young 3/4 with potential.

Trade 4:
UTA trades: Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay
DAL trades: Dwight Powell, Frank Ntilikina (waived)
Dallas gets a scoring punch off the bench, Utah moves off future money.

End result would have Utah going down to 15 roster spots, adding two first round picks and a reasonable 2nd, and adding a recent first round pick (Watson).

Vanderbilt/Watson/Bolmaro
Horton-Tucker/Agbaji/Fontecchio

New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

i think you're receiving the 1st. that Denver pick currently belongs to Charlotte, i think Charlotte would be a good target if you want another pick. MJ hates tanking and they have to be worried about pissing off Ball.

i should mention the above salaries don't match though, Plumlee is only on 9 mill a year, not enough for Lauri let alone the young throw in.

Oubre will be enough for Markkenen alone if you want that Denver draft pick

I read lots of "proposed trade" articles that include the Jazz shipping off Conley, Bogey &/or Clarkson. I'm sure we've all seen them. Most are with the Lakers, most are fine, but not super exciting (Take Westbrook, then waive him.). However, these ideas are pretty good and not involving the Lakers, so I figured they are worth sharing.

Putting aside that the Jazz can't keep adding players, since they are already needing to trim down, here are the "proposals". The Milwaukee offer is the least exciting to me, but the others land a pretty good young forward (Z.Williams / P.Achiuwa), or even a 1st round pick (PHO).

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Jordan Clarkson
Utah Jazz Receive: G Malachi Flynn, F/C Precious Achiuwa, C Khem Birch, TOR 2023 2nd Round Pick

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G Jordan Clarkson
Utah Jazz Receive: F Ziaire Williams, G Danny Green, MIN 2023 2nd Round Pick (via MEM), TOR 2024 2nd Round Pick (via MEM)

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G Jordan Clarkson
Utah Jazz Receive: G Grayson Allen, G MarJon Beauchamp, MIL 2023 2nd Round Pick, POR 2024 2nd Round Pick (via MIL)

Phoenix Suns Receive: F Bojan Bogdanovic, SG Jordan Clarkson
Utah Jazz Receive: 2023 first-round pick (top-5 protected), 2023 second-round pick, F Jae Crowder, SG Landry Shamet, F/C Dario Saric

The Jazz are one of the few teams, or perhaps the only team, that: a) is willing to take on Westbrook's contract; and b)has expiring contracts that would make up the bulk of the trade so that the Lakers are a player in free agency next summer (e.g. so they can sign Kyrie).

It's rumored that Danny covets those 27 and 29 Lakers picks, and I think that the options to get those will be exhausted before the remaining Jazz vet players are moved.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the Bogey trade rumors that are out there. I've read that Dallas, Lakers, Suns and Knicks are the teams most interested.

Salary-wise, I don't see how many of these teams can make a trade work. Bogdonovic is on the hook for about $19.5m. The Jazz can't keep taking more players in than they trade away, so getting back 2 or 3 guys to get to Bogey's salary number doesn't make sense. Not worrying about draft picks, here's the potential players who match(ish) salary.

Dallas: Dinwiddie $20m, 2 years; Hardaway $19.6m, 3 years; Bertans $16m, 3 years; Wood $14.3m, 1 year (would need a little filler). Only Bertans makes any sense from the Mavs side, IMO, and his 3 year deal as a 29 year old makes no sense for the Jazz.

Phoenix:
Bridges $20.1m, 4 years. After that they have 3 guys in the $9m-$10m range in Crowder (1 year), Shamlet (4 years), Saric (1 year). Bogey and someone like S. Johnson for Saric, Crowder and a late 1st rounder (most likely)?? Seems like a poor deal.

New York (putting aside that the Knicks seem to be putting out B.S. info about why the Jazz chose CLE over them in the Mitchell trade, and I wonder if the 2 sides will be sitting down again anytime soon):
Randle $23.7m, 4 years; Fournier $18m, 3 years; Rose $14.5m 2 years (would need a little filler). Randle isn't happening (doesn't fit the Jazz timeline or plans) and Fournier with 3 years makes no sense at all with 3 years remaining. I guess if the Knicks added in a solid pick or 2 then taking on Fournier might be ok, but it doesn't seem likely NY would do that.

LA Lakers:
Basically it would have to be Westbrook for Bogey and Conley/JC. (There would have to be other filler to make a deal with JC.) There's no other option here, salary-wise. Pick(s) would need to come from LA.

....so at the end of the day, I hope there's another option out there, because none of these do anything for me, and giving away a player like Bogey seems like bad business, even if the Jazz are currently in the business of not being very good on the court. I also can't imagine him being ok sitting out (or playing limited minutes) and waiting for a mid-season trade. He's a rare NBA player who actually wants to be out on the court no matter what.

Lakers don’t want long term money but guys who can play, sounds like they will be sending out both picks. Bogey, Beasley, and filler for Westbrook and 2 firsts.
Ingles is cooked.

Another way to make it work with Lakers and Dallas, this helps us get rid of most our veterans and Lakers only 1 year contracts:

Utah trades : Bogie, Conley, Gay
Utah receives: Westbrook, Josh Green, 1st round pick via Lakers

Lakers trades: Westbrook, 2 1st round picks
Lakers receives: Bogie, Powell, Kleber

Dallas trades: Powell, Kleber, Green
Dallas receives: Conley, Gay, 1st round pick Lakers

Dallas does this for Conley who plays the Brunson role, Gay a corner 2pt threat and receives a 1st round pick

Kleber signed an extension.

Think the Westbrook deal will look something like this by the time the deal ends.

Lakers out - Westbrook, 26 first round swap, 29 frp, 2 2nd round picks.
Lakers in - Bogey, Clarkson, Saric, Jazz 2023 second round pick

Why - Bogey and Saric are on 1 year contract. Clarkson can play sixth man. Clarkson is not expiring but he will probably opt out. Lakers get a high second round pick to help fill out roster next year when these guys expire.

Suns out - Saric
Suns in - N. Alexander Walker, Jared Butler, and/or Stanley Johnson, Lakers/Chicago 2023 2nd round pick.

Why - They barely use Saric. Get a couple young guys to look at and get a 2nd round picks for almost nothing.

Utah out - Bogey, Clarkson, Alexander, Butler/Johnson, 2023 2nd round pick
Utah in - Westbrook, 26 swap, 27 second round pick, 29 frp unprotected,

Why - We all know why.

Trade will be announced soon.

Lakers get - Bojan, Conley and Beasley.

Jazz get Westbrick, 1st round pick, and Wenyen

Russ will want to get bought out and sign with another team....no way he plays for Jazz.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.
