One of the lamest fake made-up excuses that NBA only fans and Giannis only fans tried to throw against the wall here to see if it would stick (it didn't), was that Germany was a "vastly superior team" as compared to Greece, and that Germany had "vastly superior talent", and blah, blah, blah.....
In reality, Greece's roster is very clearly more talented and deeper than Germany's roster. Guys like Nick Weiler-Babb and Andy Obst were key players for Germany, and neither one of them could even make Greece's roster. German rotation player Giffey wouldn't make Greece's roster either.
German players like Sengfelder, Hollatz, and Wohlfarth-Botterman - none of those players would even get invited to an open Greek team training camp tryout.
The made up untrue, ridiculous nonsense excuse of "Giannis lost to a superior team", was absurd. Because Giannis' team is way more talented than Germany is.
Greece's team was easily, easily deeper and better than Germany's team. Not even close actually.
And we see that very clearly in the EuroBasket semifinals against Spain. Where the weakest Spanish team in several decades beat Germany at their home. A Spanish team that doesn't even have 1/2 the talent that Greece's roster had, and they beat Germany, with a team that has Willy freaking Hernangomez as its best player...........a Spanish team that has 37 year old Rudy Fernandez as a rotation player. The same Rudy Fernandez that has been a minor bit role player in EuroLeague for years.
A Spanish team that features an above average to good EuroLeague player (he's far from being a star in EuroLeague) in Lorenzo Brown, as a team leader, a Spanish team that features a EuroCup (2nd tier European level) player in Alberto Diaz, as a key contributor, EuroCup level Brizuela, etc., etc., etc. Spain's roster is significantly less talented, less deep, and worse than Greece's roster is.
And yet somehow, with a limited roster, with a bunch of guys that are not good enough for the EuroLeague.........somehow, someway, Spain managed to beat the incredible juggernaut of unbelievable greatness (according to ludicrous NBA fans) that is the German national team, with half of Germany's roster not being good enough to make Greece's team.........
Yeah, but we are supposed to believe from NBA only fans, that poor Giannis was such an unfortunate victim of his circumstances, and that his team was so overmatched by the mighty Germans, that it was like he was playing with eleven 8th graders as his teammates, and playing against the Dream Team........
The excuses made for Giannis' unbelievable level of colossal failures in FIBA is absolutely mind boggling. Giannis is the most coddled and protected by the media and fans, athlete in the history of the world.
