the starting lineup in November/December doesn't matter

playing Tucker starter's minutes from the jump would be mismanagement, he's 37 friggin years old

More important he ends games. Whether he starts or not is debatable. Limit his overall minutes and do not play him in back to backs. We have good depth in that position.

Rivers is definitely going to have a tough job managing the egos. I do believe there will be flexibility on who ends games, and hopefully they accept the roles for the sake of a championship. Mainly I can see games where Maxey (unless he becomes the closer we hope for), or Harris aren't finishing depending on the game.

Tucker should get more than a couple of "DNP - OLD" entries in the box score.

I can’t even imagine what the trash heap of junk they’d want to send us for him. Tobias isn’t going anywhere guys.

Julius Randle would be interesting.

He gives us a higher ceiling, given his excellent rebounding and playmaking. But he wouldn't know his role here and his shooting is streaky and his shot selection is often terrible.

Ultimately, I'm not moving Harris, though. Just not worth hitting the reset button for another year.

He can engage in defense and be productive but when he doesn't it's even worse than Harden.

Harden targeted him non stop on the 4th quarter yesterday

Getting Randle for Tobias would be the heist of the century. I can’t believe we’re even debating this.

Kristaps would be an interesting swap. Improved rebounding, blocks, and free throw attempts. Shooting only 32.5% on 3's, but at the same volume as Tobias. His personality and injury history make me lean towards no, but it's close.

No to bustaps, Randle much better option. Porzingis is a malcontent and not good fit with Embiid even though he can shoot from outside.

Not that I would necessarily do the Knicks deal but I'm glad that Tobias is at least garnering some interest around the league. I think they should hold off until closer to the deadline to see what other offers may come up.

Side note, I just noticed that we are playing the Celtics in Boston Feb. 8 which is the night before the trade deadline. That game may be a litmus test as to whether Morey stays pat or makes a significant move if he hasn't done so already.

I don't think that's the report. Or at least not the one I saw...

Randle is signed for 3 more years after this, absolutely not. If Harden walks after the season you could trade Harris as an expiring and have some cap room for the first time in a while. Randle isn't moving the needle and in the playoffs he's going to take some wild ass shots that will make you pull your hair out.

Randle is younger and slightly better, but player to player I don't see a huge delta there between him and Tobias.

No one has wanted to move Tobias more than me, but Randle makes absolutely no sense, either from a fit or contract perspective.

The only Knicks trade I’d seriously consider for Tobi is:

Mitchell Robinson
Cam Reddish
Evan Fournier

For

Tobi
Furk or Matisse

In that scenario we’d turn Tobi into an A+ Embiid backup, a DHO option for Embiid similar to Belinelli, and a high potential wing worth a flier. Even then I don’t love it and I doubt the Knicks would be interested.

I think a Knicks Tobias deal would have to involve a 3rd team.

Lateral move:

Harris/Thybulle/Korkmaz for THJ/DFS/Bertans

Harden/Maxey/Springer
Melton/Milton
DFS/THJ/House
Tucker/Niang/Bertans
Embiid/Harrell/Reed

Maxey/McCain/Lowry

Tobias for Mitchell and Grimes for me. I dont like Randle or Barrett.

Other guys are Quickely and Toppin. I think both guys are underrated
