Greece was the biggest disappointment, right?
Followed by Serbia and Slovenia.
Pitiful that top notch NBA players can't medal in this tournament with decent help.

USA (and Canada in the future also) has unlimited amounts of individually talented players, something that majority of European national teams lacked forever. To allow these teams to sign one of those guys is cheating made legal. Lorenzo Brown had a bench warmer career in NBA and he's out there in Eurobasket having great games without a proper training camp with Spanish national team.
To make things worse the Fiba has given too many spots for other continents in their world championship tournament, when it's clear these European teams need to have more spots reserved to them than they do now. Therefore some quite strong European teams may be reduced to playing one tournament per 4 years now, which is why nearly every team has now signed a foreigner, to be able to compete in this dumb new Fiba format.
Impossible in the age of equality. Though it would be cool to have some kind of champions cup where the top 12 in the world play. But yes not gonna happen.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Lorenzo Brown has represented both the U.S. and Spain very well. Happy for him. Americans have done nothing but enhance the quality of this tournament for 30 years, both on the court and from the sideline, and all Euros do is bitch about them. Change the rules or develop some players of your own.
The Milwaukee Bucks are NBA Champions.

The shooting game of Wagner vs Rudy Fernandez is quite close but it probably goes to Wagner in front of the home crowd. Not to forget that Wagner does more things than Rudy now because Wagner is younger. Spain has the better head coach but I don't think that it's enough for Spain to win this game.
Then there is just one more hurdle left for Germany and I assume that it is France. I just feel like Germany beats them too. Germany already beat France by 13 points once in this tournament.
Wow! 99%? No less?
I think there are 2 different type of people when thinking abot basketball.
One, is the people who thinks like:
"Ey... if they have Harden + KD + Irving, and each of them usually score 30 ppg, when combined and added to the rest of the team, the Nets are probably scoring 160+ points each night, and winning the ring easy"
Then there are other people who actually understands how basketball works.
Basketball is not just the addition of each player skills in the team: Chemistry, adjustment, confidence, coaching, heart, strategy, experience... matters. And many more. Germany had the best players on the paper, I give you that.
But when there are 4 teams who have made their way to the semifinals, saying one of them has 99% chances of winning it all is, let's say to be polite, too risky.
It's not only that they haven't won the Tournament... they have been unable to win even the semifinal. And, in a world were Germany would have defeated Spain, doesn't matter that they already beat France by 13 points before, in the groups stage. They can totally lose the re-match, where a lot of adjustments would be made, and probably each team has learnt a lot since, and their confidence can be higher or lower... Or maybe just coaches didnt show all their cards on the groups stage game?
Never underestimate the heart of a champion.

Yes, in a single elimination game, we had poor by Euroleague standards teams finish high, Poland most obviously, and even Spain isnt that good on paper. Put this Spain team in the Euroleague, they arent favorites. But we had even more teams that had insane talent finish low, its just a nature of a game. Anyone who saw this Eurobasket and question its talent level is being asinine. The scoring quality among top teams is so much better than Euroleague, its not even funny. Yes, Poland team would suck in Euroleague and they made all the way to the medal stage. But guess what, Put France roster in Euroleague, they without a doubt betting favorites. Same with Greece, Serbia, Germany, Lithuania and Slovenia. Thats six teams that would easily be best Euroleague team day one. I already see Mirotic trolling me back and saying how little Euroleague talent Slovenia has, but they have Doncic, the guy who destroys any NBA big in a pick and roll, he would destroy any Euroleague big in a pick and roll, its not even a competition.
Mirotic12 try for you to see just one contextualless point of view - Spain is in a final with average Euroleage talent, so that means that Eurobasket is weak (or rather EUroleague is so amazingly strong, please believe him) and that every other team that finishes lower is even worse, right? Like Illusionist, he tries to hide what is on the other hand, the flip argument that can be made - hey, Serbia has world class talent, they didnt even make top 8. So maybe this Eurobasket isnt that bad when teams like Serbia with Jokic and elite Euro talent doesnt make, or Greece with Giannis and somewhat elite Euro talent doesn't make it?
Mirotic12 is just here to convince you how good Euroleague is. He is a fanboy who is not to debate people, he is here to preach. He is not contributing to a conversation, hes preaching.
Anyhow, Euro players not being in the Euroleague, doesnt mean they are worse. Euroleague every year have rookies that take EUroleague by storm, there will always be Euroleague caliber players outside Euroleague, because Euro club basketball is so wide, where Euroleague is just a very small part of that. Also Euroleague is just at that level, it is very strong reletevely, but it is not head and shoulders better. Every year we had new teams that made Euroleague and soometimes they do pretty well. Sometimes Euroleague team leaves Euroleague and falls into a minor obscurity. This is not NBA, where NBA is at such highest level, you cant really build NBA team from players who arent in the NBA. But you could build 5 great Euroleague teams with players from non Euroleague teams. To question Euro talent just because they arent neceserilly in the Euroleague is not vise in my opinion. Yes, Diaz and Tarpey arent Euroleague players, but if this tournament didnt convince you that any Euroleague team would love to have them, you need a new glasses.
Teams that made finals are very strong, maybe even stronger teams didnt make it, its a nature of a game. If Jokubaitis makes that 3, Spain is not even in the quarterfinals. If they start the clock during that inbound in that Turkish-France game, France is not even in the quarterfinals. This is how fragile championship is, one minor thing shuffles all the cards. In alternate timeline, Serbia and Greece is in the final, Jokic and Giannis are absolutely amazing, and even Mirotic is out of preach verses.

Durant, Harden, and Irving played in a whopping 16 games together. It basically never happened. Had nothing to do with heart unless you base the argument on Kyries unwillingness to do whatever was needed to be available.

Well said. I’ll also just add that the difference between the bottom four Euroleague teams and top four EuroCup teams is often negligible.
The Milwaukee Bucks are NBA Champions.

None whatsoever. He was a solid Euroleague player willing to renounce his US citizenship for a starting role on a Eurobasket NT. Spain needed a PG. They got it done without ever even bringing him to Spain.
That is so sad and depressing, really a low point of Spanish basketball NT. Who cares if they win it all if they do it with Lorenzo Brown as MVP? Another asterisk championship only. Spanish federation made a big mistake by not trusting their own countrymen to run the point.

KD, Harden and Kyrie had all faced adversity before. Schroeder had faced some adversity and that's why he was able to show up tonight as well. Wagner had never played a meaningful game before and that's why he was MIA in the first half. The team needed him to put up 25 tonight, but he wasn't ready. That's no knock on him cause he's young. The Nets - Germany comparison is definitely off.

I'm Spanish and I fully agree with this. I didn't like it when it was announced and I keep not liking it now.
We have a long list of nationalized players, but until now every single one either haas grown in the country or has been here for many years.
I haven't lookeed at how he got citicenship without having put a foot in Spain, but IMHO, FIBA should try to close this loop as fast as it can (or if it can)

Also, I've never understood the obsession for MVPs and individual accolades in team sports. Promotion of individual players is probably good from an economic point, but it's distorting whatt's rreally important, the team. And there's a lot of examples where one player searching for the individual price has destroyed the team.

For those complaining about Lorenzo Brown citizen .
I have read the same for years about Spain being too agressive, floppers, whinners etc ....
Im going to say the next statement for those all
Angry fans just Get Over it
Spain is the best not multi countries (Usa; URSS, Yugoslavia) ever existed playing basketball .
Dont worry about that, we have so many other political and económical problems that you shouldn't envy us.
We only care about party, sun, food and sport.
Lets us enjoy our typical summer ( beach , Wine , food and Nt basketball team winning a metal.

The 1 american/team rule has been there forever, remember Anthony Randolph playing for Slovenia, or McCaleb for Macedonia FYROM, like it or not doesn't make sense complaining now. Plus is not like they signed Chris Paul it's another American journeyman that couldn't even stick to NBA
He wasn't a problem before the tournament. there was what 50+ NBA players, several all-stars, even mvps. If he wins MVP over them it only means Spain has played their cards much better, props to them

Man, it's important to know your own legislation. There are several ways to obtain it and one is given by the Government if they think that it's positive.

Well, ask that in Cataluña, Euskadi, Galicia or a few other regions. Also the Spanish Constitution recognise nacionalities and where I live summer could be many things but not beach, food and wine

P s.although what I say it totally true, I am just trolling for fun.

Spanish roster:
7 guys you didn´t know who they were before the tournament:
Parra
Diaz
Brizuela
Lopez-Arostegui
Pradilla
Saiz
Jaime Fernandez
3 players that have no minutes in NBA:
Hernangomez x2
Garuba
1 oldman:
Rudy Fernandez
And Lorenzo Brown
Don´t be wrong, we are in the final because this team has a culture of winning and fighting until the end.
And, of course, the best coach (by far) of the tournament
