Magic are an under the radar trade partner for sure..
A salary match can be made with a minimum of:
1 of Isaac, Fultz
2 of Bamba, Ross, Harris

They have a logjam at the frontcourt. So, depending on how they see Issac going forward with Paolo Banchero and Okeke competing for minutes. To me, Issac is a better player than Okeke for sure. Banchero will command heavy minutes from the very beginning.
They have Carter, Bamba and Bol Bol at the centre. There is no much minutes Issac can see at the 5. Maybe Issac can see some minutes at the 3 IDK.
Harris is done for this season. They will have Ross and Suggs to cover the SG position. They have Cole and Fultz at the 1.
What they really lack is experience, an experienced veteran will be their needs. I see some of them will demand playing time and look to leave for better opportunities. Issac is definitely a viable target.

Re: Lakers Trade IDEAS
I've revised the three way trade with Indiana and Utah factoring in the addition of Dennis Schroder, and now put Clarkson in place of Conley, and list the luxury tax impact. This 3-Way trade works under the CBA because Indiana has $22M in cap space, and seems FAIR to ALL PARTIES since I don't care a hoot about any of the 3 teams involved...
Lakers In: Myles Turner from Indiana, Bojan Bogdanovic & Jordan Clarkson from Utah ($50,890,000 Incoming)
Lakers Out: Unprotected 1rst, Two Seconds, Westbrook to Indiana; Unprotected 1rst to Utah ($47,063,078 Outgoing)
Lakers 2023 Payroll increases by $3,826,922 and luxury tax increases by $14,548,182.50
Utah Out: Bojan Bogdanovic & Jordan Clarkson to Lakers ($32,890,000 Outgoing); Top 55 Protected 2nd Round Pick to Indiana
Utah Incoming: Unprotected 1rst from Lakers; Daniel Theis from Indiana ($8,694,369 in 2023 plus $9,108,386 in 2024)
Utah Payroll Decrease of $24,195,631 in 2023 and INCREASE of $9,108,386 in 2024
Indiana Outgoing: Myles Turner ($18,000,000) to Lakers; Daniel Theis to Utah ($8,694,369)
Indiana Incoming: Westbrook ($47,063,478), Unprotected 1rst & Two 2nd Round Picks from Lakers; Top 55 Protected 2nd from Utah
Indiana 2023 Payroll Increase of $20,369,109 and decrease of $8,694,369 in 2024
The Additional Luxury Tax of $14,548,182 is calculated by $3.75 x $3,432,472 + $4.25 x $394,450
The Lakers have the most LUCRATIVE TV contract in the NBA by a WIDE MARGIN. $14,548,182 additional luxury tax is not significant when you consider the revenue the Lakers have relative to the other 29 NBA Teams. Oh, but the Lakers are practically the only NBA run by millionaires, not billionaires. Still, the 5 Buss Siblings shouldn't bitch about $3.6M out of each of their end of year profit sharing (additional salary + additional luxury tax) if they want a winner. Heck, New Orleans owns the right to swap 1rst Round Picks in 2023 so the Lakers better field a winner or New Orleans will just swap picks with them in the spring.
This 3-Way Trade nets the Lakers a Big that can shoot, a Wing that can shoot, and a guard that can shoot. I can see Indiana doing it for 1 Unprotected 1rst and Two Seconds if Utah absorbs Daniel Theis' $17.8M over the next two seasons. There is a chance that Utah will do it for one 1rst because Utah saves $24,195,631 this season even though Utah gets stuck with Theis' $9.1M salary in 2024 plus Utah may move Rudy Gay and Beasley for expirings to make additional cap room in 2024 (plus Beasley's salary in 2024 is 100% unguaranteed).
Utah probably has to send a Top 55 protected 2nd Round pick to Indiana to touch base with Indiana for the Theis transaction.

If they're going to trade Westbrook, they probably don't want to hold a presser where they spend half their time explaining how they're going to use Westbrook and making a bunch of statements about how much they love him, which they'll just contradict next week.

So frustrated that Westbrook will be a member of this team. I'm barely going to watch - just like after the trade deadline last season.
I hope that fans don't show up this year. If the Lakers take a "gap" year - so should the fans.

He might and I state might have a come back year with Lakers - Than Lakers will sign him to some stupid contract after his year is up and you all going to start complaining about the contract - I can already see it happening

I'm not a huge Schroder guy either - but at least he gives a f**k and has winning tendencies. Does he shoot the ball as well as I want? No. Does he have the size I want? No. Is his personality off a bit? Yes. But at least he doesn't mind filling the gaps and doing dirty work: Pressuring the ball, playing off-ball, etc.
Russell Westbrook just doesn't give a f**k. If he can't "play his way" he's going to be a loaf of bread on D, he's going to be an ass in the media, he won't take accountability, etc. Then when it comes to being on the court, his weaknesses are so glaring.

Judging from the fact nobody created a media day thread, maybe nobody gives a ****... I know I don't.
I am slightly curious what this team does on the floor, but there isn't a person on the Lakers I care less about hot takes from, than Pelinka, and Ham doesn't have **** to say until he wins an actual basketball game with this roster.
I'm full-on STFU and Dribble for the whole organization at this point... Interviewing them all, seems like an insult to journalism.

Re: Lakers Trade IDEAS
Two trade I want to happen
1. Westbrook for CP3 and Jae Crowder
2. Pat Bev & Nunn for Johnathan Issac / Nunn for Jalen Smith
Trade 1 & 2 can be made into a 3 team trade too so that Pat Bev or Nunn can be retained. CP3 has 3 more season to go for his enormous contract to end. Jae Crowder wants to leave. Suns Championship window seemingly closed. with all those incidents happened.
Fultz and Harris were injured. They may want some reinforcement in guard department. Issac is redundant given that he is not a centre and the emergence of Banchero

Re: Lakers Trade IDEAS
I hate Crowder, but I would love to see him on this team. Obviously not worth giving up a 1st, and Ignoring far fetched CP3/RW scenarios, I think it might take a couple of seconds to get it done. However, salary wise there is nothing we could really do to make it work, until later in the season signings can be traded.
I wonder if a 3 way trade with Utah could work. If I'm not mistaken Suns are rumored to want guards, and they aren't concerned about taking on salary that goes past a season.
Salary wise, the following trade works;
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2h76hnqe
Lakers trade: RW
Receive: Conley, Saric, Crowder
Suns trade: Crowder, Saric
Receive: Clarkson, Gay
Jazz trade: Conley, Clarkson, Gay
Receive: Westbrook
Obviously picks would need to be added, but I think a single first from the Lakers going to the Jazz makes this fair for everyone. Maybe throw in a second rounder for the Jazz.
Why for the Lakers?- I know they are reluctant to take on salary for Conley, but I would really consider it for this package. Conley and Crowder should improve the team immediately, and while Saric probably won't crack the rotation, his contract is easily tradable at the deadline, along with some combination of Nunn,Walker, Beverly and our other 1st rounder. You basically break up Westbrook in chunks; One poor contract in Conley, an expiring in Crowder, and a movable piece in Saric.
Why for the Suns-
Yes, they are taking on longer deals in Gay and Clarkson, but realistically, they have no cap plans for next summer, and they are in win-now mode. Not to mention I doubt they'll have better suitors for a disgruntled Crowder, who is expiring. You get a third ball handler that you desperately need, and a servicable rotation piece in Gay to replace Crowder. Saric is just an expiring, nothing more and nothing less. Yes, this leaves them a little thin at the front. Saric missed all of last season, and while he is servicable if healthy, he only played 17mpg the previous year (10mpg in the playoffs).
Why for the Jazz:
Get rid of Conley's contract. Receive a 1st rounder. I wouldn't consider Gay and Clarkson negative assets, but by themselves I doubt they would fetch more than protected 1st. This way you get your first, and get rid of Conley along the way without increasing payroll.

Re: Lakers Trade IDEAS
I'm recognizing that the previous trade isn't good value wise for the Lakers based on responses in the trade board. How about this revised version, involving the same 3 teams.
Lakers get: Clarkson,Crowder, Saric, Gay
Jazz get: Westbrook, 2 Lakers SRP
Suns get: Conley
This of course only makes if PHX has actual interest in Conley.
I know we won't be happy to take Clarkson and Gay's second years, but I think it's a reasonable cost to take if we aren't giving up any firsts.
This trade helps the Lakers preserve their 1st rounders, and break up Westbrook in more manageable pieces. Clarkson/Gay will be easier to move than Conley in the summer if the Lakers believe they could get top FA when that time comes.
Lakers would obviously need to make additional moves/make some cuts before the season. You can waive Gabriel, but another spot needs to be opened up. Maybe buy out Saric?
Beverley/Schroder/Nunn
Walker/Clarkson/Reeves/ Brown JR
Lebron/Gay/Christie
AD/Crowder/JTA
Jones/Bryant
I kinda like that lineup. Clarkson provides our best case scenario Westbrook roll, at a fraction of the price. Bench scorer, secondary ball handler, with better spot up shooting.
Crowder would probably be a regular in our small ball lineups, and to close out games.
Gay is obviously only included for salary reasons, and wouldn't see much playing time, but he's still a solid shooter and vet. Reeves/Brown/Walker would probably see minutes at the 3.
As for the future, you have flexibility.
-If the right player(s) is on the block, you have Crowder, Walker, Nunn, Clarkson, Beverley as tradable pieces/expirings, along with the 2 first rounders.
- If no trade is made but the FO believes a star FA could be had at the summer, you still have those picks to move Gay/Clarkson in the summer, assuming it's a no-brainer signing. Clarkson can probably be moved in the summer without any picks attached.
We can't have our cake and eat it too....Any realistic meaningful upgrade in a RW trade would ruin any capspace plan we may have., along with picks. Yes, we could play it safe and just ride out the year with Westbrook, keep the picks, and have capspace, but realistically we would be throwing away a year of our small 2 year window. There is also no guarantee that elite FAs will actually be available. That's a lot of chips in one basket.
This way, you maintain flexibility while immediately improving the team.

Westbrook, 2 FRP, 2 swaps
For
Turner, Duarte, $25m TPE
This is the all in move that gets Lakers:
- a stretch big and young cost-controlled SG/SF
- out of the tax
- the ability to add $11m MLE and $4m BAE next two offseasons
- a $25m TPE that can be used this season at deadline or next offseason to bring in an FA via SnT.
- financial flexibility as Turner and Duarte can be kept around $30m per season for the 2 seasons after this one (23/24 and 24/25).
- cap space for Jaylen Brown in 2024 offseason while keeping Duarte, Turner, Reaves, Christie and one of Davis or LeBron.
Beverley, Duarte, LeBron, Davis, Turner
Schroeder, Lonnie, Reaves, Gabriel, Bryant
Nunn, Christie, Brown, JTA, Jones

Wow Zimpy! This one is a wild one but really intriguing.
I definitely don't like the idea of giving up 2 FRPs, essentially for Turner. Duarte is solid but shouldn't garner a FRP.
The $25 million in TPE is also a great value, maybe even more than a FRP, but depends on availability of desires trade pieces and other teams' willingness to trade.
I'd do it with one FRP.

Pretty sure that, at this point, they're going to wait and see if the Nets implode and Kyrie becomes available again.

For
Turner, Duarte, $25m TPE
2 FRPs ?
No way I would do it for Turner. Not a game changer for 2 FRPs

Duarte is a big piece of the prize. He's locked in at $4m for 3 more years and he's already better than Hield.
LeBron, Duarte, Reaves, Davis, Turner is a strong lineup that could be locked in at $110m per season for next few years. Gives Lakers an opportunity to add decent FAs each season.
