Walked away from that trash organization after the SECOND name change. How Dan still manages to own that team I'll never know. But remember when the Skins drafted Haskins a year before a loaded QB draft class and then passed on Herbert and Tua for Chase Young? I member. They're the Wizards of the NFL. Sad.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
Washington basketball is a poorly run franchise, but during Snyder's tenure the Washington football team has arguably been the most poorly run franchise in all of professional sports.
It's borderline insulting to compare the Wizards to that Landover trash heap.

Yeah at least Ted is a decent human and has good intentions. There has been legit second round play off runs. What have the Washington's Washington's given us? Not much.
The defence is terrible. That needs fixed.

Peter Asbestalos' Orioles can give Snyder a run for worst franchise. In either case, what's especially
troubling to fans is that they took franchises which had enjoyed considerable success for a lengthy
period of time. And ruined them for the time being.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
I never liked the Rivera hire. Hated it even more when he brought everyone from Carolina along. His last few years there (as Cam declined/couldn't stay healthy) is just like his first few years here. Weak on the Xs & Os but has good communication skills and can project as 'leader of men' but in reality he's a **** personnel guy surround by his long time friends. This roster is his. Handpicked and cultivated by him and yet he complains about injuries/depth. He throws players under the bus while covering for his coaches. He gives off the hard working, no excuses vibe but his teams are consistenly underprepared and he's full of excuses post game. People cut him slack because of recent health issues and his willingness to come to DC despite all the turmoil surrounding the org & Snyder.
Every offseason he sifts the trash bin to fill positions of need or ignores them all together under the guise, 'we can coach em up'... and he can, to about 7-8 wins after a strong finish. Its getting old but I think his job security is safe through this season no matter what happens the rest of the way.

Agreed. Actually, the time to fire him was this summer after those abhorrent remarks
Wait to game 4 or 5 at least IMO.
Jaguars shut out a team week 2 following their loss. Washington came back and competed in half 2 at Detroit. Detroit is NFL #1 in rushing. They ARE GOOD.
EVERYONE is predicting Philadelphia will win but WHAT IF...Washington wins?
WENTZ is going to deal... perhaps.

Not sure I can handle watching the Wentz Turner show anymore. Wentz is not smart. No OC should see his qb sacked 9 times. Gotta switch it up. Slants, screens, short drops.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
Seen this movie before:
1. Wentz is holding the ball too long. Is bad and entire reason offensive line is "struggling".
2. Bring in someone else who gets the ball out quick.
3. Offensive line is suddenly good! Problem solved!
4. Team never scores more than 20ppg.
5. Coach fired.
6. New coach wants his own guy.

Wouldn't be week three in the NFL without Washington in full meltdown mode already.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
Thank God I moved back to Ohio. My Bengals won yesterday, although they're 1-2. Their defense is a little iffy, took advantage of some Joe Flacco incompetence yesterday though. Hope the Jets have a young qb on the way

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
I'll premise this by saying that I like Ron. I think he brings positivity, a good attitude, and a level of professionalism to a franchise that is known to be highly unprofessional and dysfunctional. He does a good job of separaating the on-field activities from the nonsense that happens off the field.
With that being said, his strategy in building a strong football team is highly suspect. IMO, there's 5 critical things in building a great football team:
1. A Quarterback
2. A Quarterback
3. A Quarterback
4. A Quarterback
5. A strong pass rush
It doesn't make sense to sure up other positions on the field and not address the most important position on the field FIRST. Year one should have been focused on getting the QB. They ignored the position for three years now. It's inexcusable.

Some rah-rah about culture, toughness and accountability that typically plays well with fans, but his decision making in all facets of the organization has been suspect.
From the way they he has handled the malcontents on the team, to roster building decisions and coordinator appointments as well as how they've bungled Haskins, it's all been very unimpressive.
That was two years ago, not much has changed I see.

Chasing an elite QB can take forever. Ask the Browns.
There's a surefire way to get good that doesn't take luck. Build an elite run blocking offensive line and an elite defensive line. That's it. Built them as quickly as you possibly can, as cheaply as you possibly can. We worked on one line and not as much on the other. We have no business paying a guy like McLaurin right now, or investing in receivers in general. We've decided it's time to win now though so went after Wentz before the team was built up enough for him to succeed.
Nobody can succeed without a good running game or o-line except for absolutely elite QB's. If chase that method of winning, the defensive line will begin to age and start to get picked apart by free agency, and we'll be back to needing to build that up again.
