I went and checked and the only player making less than Bam in the league after their rookie contract that’s around as good as Bam is Jaylen Brown lol. This max contract talk is SO off base.

Yeah people use the term MAX as equivalent across the board. The same with the term 1st rounder.

He's a guy who could become available this season if Chicago isn't one of the top teams in the East a few weeks after Ball returns. DeRozan played a lot of 4 in San Antonio for a couple of seasons and would help Miami's offense and keep pushing towards the positionless basketball that Spoelstra seems to be still trying to do. Also... DeRozan is good friends with Lowry (Demar's best friend) and Butler.

If you just look at the contract situation for Miami just next year, something big has to happen. Herro, Strus, Yurtseven, Oladipo(likely) and Vincent will all have to have new contracts next year while already paying Butler, Bam, Lowry, Robinson and Martin. Miami can't let talent just walk.

With Butler working on the 3 ball he's probably going to be a top player in the playoffs for the rest of his contract, he understands how important keeping in shape is.

Those who want to move on from Butler(the Basement guys were all about it), you'd get draft picks from a team that has Butler on it that feel like they can compete for a championship (or they wouldn't trade for Butler in the first place), they're not going to be good picks and although Miami will be much worse, they just won't be near the top of the draft bad, not with Bam holding down the defense. I could see New York interested in Butler, you'd get J.Randall, some filler, maybe Quickly and some picks... but those picks better be way out in the future.

We tried to get him when we got Lowry too but after paying Duncan didn’t have enough money. I wouldn’t mind him or Lavine but you’re right, he played the 4 very well in SA

I mean Derozan isn’t a young stud or anything but he’s probably the level of player you get in a Herro trade if you’re wanting a star. He had an amazing MVP level season last year. We could make it work for sure. It would give him and Lowry another shot at a ring together but this time they’d be the 3rd and 4th best players on a much better team

Derozan averaged an efficient 28-5-5 last year. He fits the Jimmy timeline and when those guys are done we pivot to the Bam/Mitchell/??? Era

So you need at least 25-10-3 from the best defender in the world to think he’s worth $30M? If that’s the case there’s not a player in the league outside of a rookie deal that’s worth their contract

exactly, very few players are really worth of a max salary in a properly balanced market, not this overinflated garbage we have.
Max salary should be reserved for true superstarts, the Lebrons, Wades, Kawhi lenard, Luca, people who can basically score at will.

You do realize a max contract for LeBron is far more than a max contract for Bam right? Compare Bam to every other player in the league that’ll make $30M next year. How many are better?

You are right i should not have used the word Max salary. He is making more than what he Should be worth. He is definitely taking a big chunk out of our cap space. Dont be surprised if Yurt makes a big leap this season and becomes our starting center by midseason. Unforgivable what Spo did to this guy last season.

This man made it to the NBA finals as a rookie head coach....and he's dating Nia Long...NIA LONG...who is fine as hell...and he still finds a way to eff it up. Seriously...who the hell cheats on Nia Long? SMH.

I doubt anyone wants this spotlight. This is probably about the power dynamic and how in time it could effect the team. Udoka has a lot of influence over a number of people's careers below him on the organizational chart, also if the relationship goes bad it could cause a lot of chaos during the season depending on the other person's position.

Whats so far fetched about it? Must i remind you the numbers he was putting up when Bam and company were injured? Rebounding wise numbers the league have not seen since Shaq. Bam is a complementary player making star money, he will never be the guy to build around. He doesnt have the mentality to overcome his lack of natural scoring, like Jimmy for example
