I mean he did take the team to the Finals in his 1st year and took it to 6 games lol. Teams still want to win so I'm sure someone in the Celtics organization vouched for him professionally cause of his on-court success not completely get rid of him. Plus even though it's worst than tawdry what he's alleged to have done by all accounts (so far) it wasn't forced and he didn't commit a crime which is what I bet the Celtics considered. Also depends who the VP was because at the end of the day it's still the owner's call.

That's a very optimistic look of things. A more realistic look might be the Celtics have to pay out his buyout if he's fired. We don't know what his coaching contract is but if it's a long term deal it's likely north of $10 million to fire him.

The Celtics ownership group has tried hard to stay under the luxury tax in the past. It's not an ownership group that is overly enthusiastic about spending money if there's a way to avoid it. If they want Ime gone it would be a lot cheaper to suspend him and try to pressure him into quitting and seeking employment elsewhere than it would be to fire him.

I wonder how hard it would be to suspend him and withhold paycheques here. He hasnt committed a crime and has basically done something thats in a grey area (consensual relationship in the office). If the woman doesnt directly report to Ime and Ime hasnt done anything to/for her career in the business, he hasnt really done anything wrong.

If theyre waving a year long suspension, there kinda has to be more there, no?

We don't know who the female staffer is, but even if they weren't a direct report to Ime Udoka a higher up in a company having a relationship with someone who isn't on the same organizational level as they are is still a big no-no, because it still does have career implications even if nothing has come of it yet. I believe it's pretty explicitly against the rules for NBA employees to do that per the CBA.

It's hard to judge how bad this specific incident is without knowing the details and without knowing the people involved, but this situation has to be taken seriously because if as soon as you open the door to allowing those with power in an organization to sleep with whoever they want this power can be badly abused.
