The thread that keeps on giving. Enjoyed reading the geniuses that were whining that we didn’t draft a couple of bums playing in China over Pascal come back into the thread years later to complain that he wasn’t a “number one option” and was overpaid. You can’t make this crap up.

 Masai's 2016 draft/post-draft will be legendary for all time. Poeltl (helped get us Kawhi, and a guy we could really use right now), Siakam and FVV. I've seen some 2016 redrafts that put ALL THREE in the top ten. Think of it - Raps got three legit top ten picks, and that led directly to the 2019 championship.

The only thing that will top the summer of 2016 in Raptors lore is the summer of 2021, when Masai picked up both Scottie and Precious. I have high, high hopes for Precious.

Yeah, some threads should never be locked. Everyone on the first page is whining about not drafting Deyonte Davis or Skal at #27, but NO-ONE mentions passing on Dejounte Murray. Or Brogdon. None of us really have a clue.

I love this pick for Toronto. I had Siakam as the most underrated player in the draft.

Steal of the draft IMO. Top-15 talent. Maybe top-10 in this draft. Draymond Green like defense and promising offensive game for someone who's basically had 2 years of serious coaching.

This pick was out of left field for 99.99% of the fans so some of the comments aren't surprising. What's funny is that the most negative comments seem to be from the usual suspects.

I remember this board LOSING THEIR MINDS at this kid being drafted. All of the experts here were calling for Masai's head and wanted answers as to why he didn't draft Skal or Deyonte.

I just looked it up.

Both Skal and Deyonte are out of the NBA. They played 7 combined seasons and combined for 1523 points and 1008 rebounds.

Siakam currently ... a 2 time all NBA player with 6290 points and 2522 boards.

DAMN YOU MASAI!!! Real GM wanted scrubs!

From this draft, the Raps got 3 of the top 6 players in career win shares - Siakam (2nd), Poeltl (4th), VV (6th)

This makes me wonder if it’s the same folks who had a meltdown after the Scottie pick with the same anti Masai comments. Imma go look for sh*ts and giggles. I don’t remember seeing most of those names around here anymore though.

We Passed on Skal
for Pascal.

When Adam Silver first said Pascal, I though that was the full name for Skal.

Man I wish I had posted in thread when it happened cuz my immediate reactions were:

“Who???”

Then after they played the college highlight reel:

“This guy looks better than our lottery pick!”

Which is to say, I wish there was evidence that I thought dude would be a stud in the league based off his motor, athleticism and natural basketball instincts.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive
