I do feel bad for guys like Kendrick Perkins. He should not be anywhere near a microphone to comment on anything other than basketball (if that). He is just a former player and does not even seem to be a particularly bright guy when talking about basketball. Stephen A on the hand has made a living making such sexist, xenophobic, race baiting commentary on these types of matters so he has absolutely no excuse.
What I take from Kendrick and Stephen A's statements is that they think the Celtics should have come out and identified the women involved and disciplined them for their "part". That way, the "innocent" women would not get unfairly accused.
First of all, I do not know the entire story as the Celtics and the media reports have only spoken in vague terms. However, I think it is very clear that Ime was involved in relationships with women who were in subordinate positions to him; there was a clear power imbalance.
When that happens, when a powerful man with authority over a female employee makes sexual advances, it can get murky whether something was or was not consensual, whether any coercion was involved. That's why universities prohibit professors from dating their students, doctors cannot sleep with their patients, etc. When a sexual relationship happens in those circumstances, you don't start punishing the subordinate employee, who may in fact be a victim or at least in a vulnerable situation. Or at the very least, it is understandable that the person in the position of power is the one that is disciplined, not the more vulnerable person.
