Crowder+filler for Clarkson? Phoenix gets more ball-handling guard depth off the bench, Crowder may have Olynyk-like value to Ainge from his 2010s Celtics stint.

Or maybe Crowder + Saric for Clarkson + Gay, if we want a salary neutral deal and another guy going back to sort of fill Crowder's role in Phoenix.

Celtics traded a first, swap rights, and J. Rich for D. White. By all appearances, they're happy with how he fits. I think the Suns could add a protected 1st to that package and still be told no.

It seems as though Minny is destined to lose Naz Reid for nothing if they don't trade him, and now he doesn't come with future RFA rights so not worth a 1st. Charlotte could still use him.
Richards and a 2nd for Reid?
3rd string C and 2nd for backup C.

Wasn’t there a setback that they definitely didn’t want to call a setback? Even with that… hard to see how this is from the ACL tear more than two years ago

I wonder if PHX wants Clarkson's potential salary for the 23-24 season though. They are supposedly working on giving Cam Johnson a big extension that would kick in next year. They are also still on the hook for Shamet.

Don't tell him please.

Just for the record we generally don't start containment threads unless the board is overrun. I haven't been on too much since the news broke, so I'll take a look and create one if it looks like the board is nothing but Jae....

Lots of players says this when they know the team is protecting them. Let's them look tough for the fans, but with zero chance they have to actually get on the court with a body that still clearly isn't right.

The team is a lot more instructive here than anything JI is saying, obviously.

Oh I am just teasing on this one - also jonesing a tiny bit to bring Crowder back to Boston but they really can't make it happen right now.

Kicking myself for not making that whole post ALL CAPS NO PUNCTUATION

You can just link it next time.

Sure! That sounds better! It's weird he then also said he's returning sometime in the season and he hopes its earlier than later. That seems to be a little less hopeful.

This sounds like it's going to be awhile, too.

Just seems weird that they're "hopeful". Not "expecting". Or anything else of the shorter type variety. Maybe he's back in October or November. Just, if he is, they've done a terrible job of messaging that?

I am legitimately flabbergasted. And yes, I know, the players don't hold the same kind of anomosity that we do as fans yada yada. But still.

Yeah, they seem to say he's doing a little bit of full team stuff, but no 5 on 5 or contact, which....that's a huge step, and means he's maybe a month, minimum, away? Like, if he cleared and started ramping up tomorrow?

sorry old school not sure how to link

On a tweet, click that arrow that says "Share", and then click "Copy Link". Go to where you want to share it, and then right click (if on a keyboard) and click paste. On an iPhone, just tap in the reply box and click paste.
