If the Wolves decide to move on from Austin Rivers would you guys trade a second for him?

Probably not. I think the Mavs FO would only entertain Rivers if he was cut from the Wolves and even then I'm doubtful unless Dinwiddie or Luka is out for an extended time.

Rivers has been a free agent for nearly all summer until he signed with Wolves. If the Mavs would have had an interest in him, Rivers has been there free to sign so I suppose we must think there is no interest in him.
In any case Rivers is not a ballhandler. Its a player with a difficult fit in todays NBA with stars and role players surrounding them because its a player with no especifically strenghts, although at the same time has no weaknesses, does a bit of everything wright. In any case I like the player.

Walker will be a FA very soon. As per rumors, Walker won't report to Detriot for the training camp.

I'm ok with Kemba like a cheap ballhander for some games in RS, he can lead the team and win some easy games. He has exp, talent and points in his hands.

Yep, I'm fine with Kemba as the backup PG, makes perfect sense to trade Powell for him.

IMO DET will ask for some minor incentive from DAL, otherwise what is the point for them to do the trade.

Powell is great with young guards in the league, he can help them in the P&R like very few can, his defensive shortcomings in the PO aren't important to the Pistons.
Powell is a better playee than Walker at this point.

As fellow DAL fan, I hope you are right and be able to use that reason to convince DET. However, if I am DET, I would rather negotiate with Walker for buy-out to save some money, instead of trading for Powell, in which DET has already Noel/Stewart/Duren playing the C position. That is also the reason why DET dump Mason Plumlee (who is obviously better than Powell) to CHA last year.

Re: Mavericks Considering Adding Veteran Ballhandler To Roster
I don't think Plumlee is better than Powell and Cash can be compensated for, the other option is to wait for Walker buyout of course, which keeps Powell expiring for a deadline trade, but if I'm DET, I'd rather have Powell, Duren is VERY raw, and Powell is a great vet presence.

I like Campazzu, limited in the NBA, with his lack of scoring ability, but tough as nails, I thought he signed with Real Madrid for some reason.

I remember in the PO 2 years ago, he was the shortest player in the PO, and he outrebounded KP
They put it in the stats in ESPN.

Too limited, he can't really play in PO.

Re: Mavericks Considering Adding Veteran Ballhandler To Roster
Considering Campazzo reeks of desperation. The guy put up 5pts/3ast/2reb on 36/30 shooting splits on a team playing with the best passer in the league and and on almost 20 mpg.
If we want a real 3rd ballhandler that can play meaningful minutes, it has to be via trade at this point. If not, we might as well play what we got until someone better on the market comes along.

These tanking teams & teams that pivot to tanking will look to move ball handlers. Rather they be patient.

They're desperate because they have seen nobody can even try to take ball handling duty. Green and Ntilikina hope died after few preparation games. It looks to me that they realised Brunson is gone only few days ago.

Pretty much. I mean most of us saw that coming. You knew it was especially bad when the training camp invite McKinley Wright was being completely relied upon to be the primary ballhandler, even when he sometimes had 3 other "ballhandlers" with him on the court.
The answer isn't Campazzo though nor is any other left over free agent. Just be patient and there will eventually be tanking teams gifting their players. In the meantime, hopefully Josh or Hardy can either develop to be mainstays, or develop enough to increase their trade value.

Campazzu is a vet min guy, can be cut whenever a trade is available, I don't see anything wrong with signing him, he's RS stopgap option, and with Mavs spacing he may be abke to succeed.
