Sixers Media Day

Post#1 » by eyeatoma » Tue Sep 27, 2022 3:00 am

Surprised we don't have a thread on this, as there was a bunch of good info shared today.

Perhaps it's time to close the offseason thread haha.

Read on Twitter

Some highlights from Sixer Adam's tweets, (click on the tweets to read his tweet thread):

PJ Tucker had a knee scope (Arthroscopic surgery). It was about 6 weeks ago, he's cleared for training camp and will be a full participant. No biggie, but something to note.

Tucker will be the backup center right now, least that's what Doc said.

Maxey, Reed and Tisse have shown the greatest work ethic this summer. Maxey had to have a few interventions to help him get out of the gym.

Harden feels as good as he as in a long time.

Joel wants to focus on defense, he wants the Sixers to be the best defensive team. The accolades are great but his goal is to win a chip.

PJ said that him and Harden were trying to get to Philly 2 years ago.

Tobias is excited about the changes and wants to be the MVP in his role, i.e. looks like he's embracing his role that he showed during the playoffs. Hard nosed defense and floor spacing, not too much dribbling or post ups.

The Turkish delight had some nerve damage the previous season and apparently that's been remedied, so hopefully as a shooter he'll actually be able to.... you know... shoot.

I'm sure theres a lot more but hope this helped.

Here's an article by Sixers Adam as well.

NBA League Pass International locked and loaded for yet another season. Let's bring it fellas - I'm becoming an old man. 21 years of following the team.

No controversies or issues going into a season. Why am I waiting for the other shoe to drop?

It's crazy ! It's almost like the team has nothing to do but focus on playing basketball. Crazy !

Glad that Tobias is invested in the role that’ll most help this team. He probably got the most praise he’s ever received from doing it in the playoffs so I’m sure that helps lol.

As a Giants fan, I have a weird feeling that Tobias will be the NBA Champion 76ers version of Barry Zito. Years of overpaid frustration and then 2012

KOC went to our media day and here's what he had to say. Not often do we get hype from the Celtics folks.

2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards/Council
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I'm incredibly happy for the relative calm around the team for once entering a season, but all the hype and Finals predictions for a core group (and coach during his time here) that has never made it out of the second round scares the hell out of me.

I'd rather sneak up on teams than have a target painted on my back before I've done anything to warrant that target. Everything is about the playoffs, and all I want is for Glenn to have this team healthy and rested come next May, regardless of seed.

Holding camp in Charleston is a nice touch. Should help build chemistry and camaraderie on and off the court. Hopefully that carries into the start of the season.

Going to be a top 5 defensive team. Harden and Maxey are also going to be a top 5 back court. Melton could be a 6th man of the year candidate. Listen to what they are saying about his motor and defense. Embiid is playing with a chip on his shoulder, he was pretty much the MVP last year and he’s going to be on a mission. We have balanced depth with shooting, spacing, and defense. I know you guys have been burned every year but this year is going to be a special one. This is going to be fun!

The only way this team can be a top defensive team is we play more Joel at 4 or with another big that you are comfortable to call as a 4.

Having Tucker and Tobias with Embiid can also get us to be an elite defensive team. With an Embiid-Reed and Harrell-Tucker pairing off the bench
