Official Training Camp Thread

Post#1 » by ankle420breaker » Tue Sep 27, 2022 1:24 pm

Figured this deserves its own thread.

Camp begins today in Charleston, SC. Interested to hear about early impressions and get a read on what rotations may look like to start the season.

It’s strange when we’re one of the quietest and least chaotic teams in the league heading into camp.

As long as we have Maxey, it’ll at least be a fun ride. This team actually has players that fit together unlike previous iterations where our play style was just ugly and frustrating.

The injury risk is the existential dread that will hang over us all year but this team fully healthy is good enough to beat anyone. Not sure I’ve ever genuinely felt that way before about a Sixers roster.

This team sounds locked in. Everything I heard was exactly what I would expect from a championship contender. Iam super excited to see this play out this year. Let’s Gooooo!

At the very least it should be a fun team to root for (until the 2nd Round, hopefully further lol)

This is easily the best roster we have had in the Embiid era, and it would be perfect if Harris and Thybulle can be moved before the deadline for another shooter and/or 3&D guy. Interesting how Harris wasn't seen or heard from all summer.

The attitude is spot on. Defense first. As doc pointed out the offense with Harden, Embiid and Maxey and lesser extent Tobias will be great but if the defense can be good to great it will solve a lot of issues. I can see why Thybulle was kept now with the major focus and switch defense and Embiid maning the paint. You can easily have a a lineup of Melton, harden or Maxey , Thybulle, Tucker and Embiid when you want to go get a few stops and Harden and Embiid giving you offense.

Melton is a solid shooter and Tucker is an elite corner three specialist.

I gotta be honest boys. I got no more hype left, I'm all shrugs. Hopefully when the games start I'll get back into it but at least I got Hurts season till then.

Embiid talking about Matisse like a proud papa.

If Matisse actually take a leap, this team gets a lot better. Obviously, we’ve heard this all before but seems like he’s getting universal praise so far.

I feel very good about the team, great chance to get to the Finals if Harden gets back to not Houston Harden, but 2020 Nets Harden. Still would like one more wing with some ball handling and shooting to help, but it will probably come at the deadline at this point. Probably packaging Thybulle with something.

Not the first time you've been negative on Embiid, or Harden. I remember last year, multiple times you acted like the sky is falling. I'll take your analysis with a massive cup of salt. Also I've seen multiple articles, from journalists who are very positive about this season from the Sixers. If Jo was out of shape it would already be getting out.

Wtf are you talking about? Please pull up posts where I have acted like the sky is falling on Embiid and Harden. I've only been here since March

I understand folks being skeptical, but this ain't the same team at all. Literally all major needs have been addressed. It's never guna be perfect...

We have all the reason to be optimistic. We will definitely be tougher and better on defense. And we don't need much offensively to be an improvement from last years bench.

Yes, it's an excellently built team, quality backups at all positions. Two way players. The worry has to be with the stars Harden and Joel.... They've got to get it done
