I get that generally speaking, number 1 options are higher valued/"better" than non-first options, but it's an oversimplified idea. I mean, Magic Johnson, Steve Nash, Scottie Pippen, and Kevin Garnett weren't as strong as first options as Dominique Wilkins, Allen Iverson, Reggie Miller, and Carmelo Anthony, but that doesn't mean they were worse.

There's also a chance that none of Cade, Mobley, Barnes develop into #1 options on championship level teams. How many of these guys are there in the entire league total? Like maybe 8 legit guys? It's an incredibly high bar.

Pretty bad take from Woz Lambry if he mentioned Scottie won't ever be as good as Mobley/Cade after just 1 season. Scottie and Mobley are ahead of Cade for now. We'll have a better idea by year 3 or 4.

Look, it's very possible that Mobley and Cade end up better, or that Scottie doesn't become a number one, but this entire off-season every decent basketball analyst (and even Masai) has said that they don't quite know yet what Scottie will become as a player, just that they're sure he'll be very good. So to say that there's "no shot" that he becomes better than Cade or Mobley, or "never" will become a #1 option is just stupid and lazy.

If you've listened to the Ringer NBA show more than twice, you know Wos has as much depth as a wading pool. He's the guy at the water cooler at work who says the most basic **** about basketball while you nod, smile politely, and reply "yeah, no, for sure." Top it off, he's a star ****-er.

Most of the folks at the Ringer are big Scottie fans. Pretty sure they were second to really talk up Scottie for ROY after Thorpe and the Bring it In guys.

Allegedly, seems like the Nets never wanted to trade KD in the first place since they were never entering any trade talks in a good faith position.

That was their public ask though. So Scottie+ was reportedly (according to the Windys and Wojs of the world) their public position in a no faith negotiation, it would suggest that Scottie is more highly valued, not less.

I don't really want to see Scottie taking too many of those deep FG's off the dribble. He should keep working on it on those shots for sure, but I hope he doesn't settle for those when the season starts. Of course if they are laying off him he has to try and keep the defense honest.

I'd rather see him use his size to get to his spots 17-feet and in though. He's big and strong enough, and has a good enough handle to get to where he wants on the court. I think he can really do some damage in the midrange, and when he sucks in defenders he's got Fred / OG / Trent / Porter to knock down shots.

When he does take 3's I'm hoping it's more off of the catch and shoot when he's wide open and feeling good. It's just easier to shoot when you're set and ready.
