I expect a short rotation again with a lot of small ball. If Blake is playing it’s cause Al or Grant is hurt

He’s actually really hit or miss as a pick and pop guy, I was wrong lol. But he’s a fine depth piece for the regular season.

Could add Jayson Tatum to this tweet too. Tatum destroyed Griffin.

Relentlessly lol. Blake defended Jaylen for 4 possessions, and Tatum for 6.

He isn’t good defensively, but a switch all system masks his biggest weakness.

Blake is washed but he’s one of my favorite players in the league. It should be fun to watch in a Celtics jersey

I don't know what Griffin is actually good at anymore. If we were going for a retread, I'd have preferred Whiteside. At least he's good at one thing, rim protection. Seems a waste of a roster spot.

You think he starts with Rob out? Or Kornet?

No way he starts lol, I’d be shocked.

It’s a depth move to help fill the Gallo spot.

I love how one person in the comments acting like good defense was played

If he was a slam dunk, he wouldn't have been signed by a team to the minimum after media day. Understandable that some fans hate the signing. My bare expectation is he stays upright until Rob comes back. Vets learn schemes easier. I think he'll be useful for spot bench minutes in the regular season. If he's not out there, something physical is preventing him to. Griffin's one of the higher IQ guys left among the unsigned vets.

I mean I don't love the signing but I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. It's a vet min big guy for depth that won't play a ton of minutes. Hopefully there is still some fumes in the tank.

Good locker room guy, good passer, will take charges. Probably plays like 12 mins a game. Like the 10th guy on the team- I don’t feel too passionate about it one way or the other but it’s not something to freak out about.

We are 3 weeks from games pickin’s are slim gang

I guess he's as good as anyone to soak up a thousand regular season minutes. Was pretty excited to see him on the floor for the opponent last few years, though.

He was a positive player in the playofffs in the summer of 2021. Still I have no expectations for him.

He isn't replacing Rob. He's replacing Gallinari.

That said, in recent years Griffin has been very inconsistent, except for the years he's been consistently bad. We certainly should expect a lot of DNP/CD for him -- or, as Popovich once put it, DNP/Old.

Nerd time, and it surprised me. But Blake was actually a really good interior defender last year.

Rim contest rate: 83rd percentile
Rim protector: 81st percentile
Post defense: 86th percentile
Screener rim defense: 80th percentile

That’s what I get for making assumptions based on a small sample lol.
