I'd rather see him use his size to get to his spots 17-feet and in though. He's big and strong enough, and has a good enough handle to get to where he wants on the court. I think he can really do some damage in the midrange, and when he sucks in defenders he's got Fred / OG / Trent / Porter to knock down shots.

When he does take 3's I'm hoping it's more off of the catch and shoot when he's wide open and feeling good. It's just easier to shoot when you're set and ready.

Agreed, we want him to be able to launch three pointers, same with Pascal, but, we want them to be relentless going to the rim. I'm more concerned they can hit 35 - 37 percent on just good shots, if they're also constantly getting in the paint and creating high quality shots in the paint or callapsing D and kicking it out to our guys that we do want shooting that 3 ball. I like a Pascal or Scottie created kickout 3 for Fred, Gary, OG a lot better than a pull up 3 from Scottie or Pascal, atleast until proven otherwise. At same rate, we know these guys are going to have ball in hands at end of clock situations and these are going to be some of the looks we have to live with on certain possessions, so they ought to be working on this stuff.

Even if you sag off Scottie he can still get to the rim; eventually you are going to have to meet him on his way to the rim and he is tremendous at bumping his man off him with his body without picking up charges, and then equally as amazing finishing over top even guys that are bigger than him, like Embiid and Durant.

Straight up, we need him to. Barnes should feast inside but him being able to hit the 3 off the dribble will help the team so much. It''' add in a whole new dimension to his game that teams need to worry and plan over.

Seems like the common consensus take over the last week or so is that the biggest leap he made in the off season is his physical strength and bounce.

His shot is still very rough and still has a high handle. Not too worried though, it’s not like those things were all of a sudden going to get fixed in a couple of months.

Being much stronger in the legs is going to help ALOT.

How do you know his shot is still rough and that he's got a high handle? I haven't seen anything from training camp yet. Was the scrimmage from last night televised?

Somebody who was at the scrimmage posted that he was bricking pretty much all of his 3 pointers during the warm ups.

Yeah I saw that but that's a pretty small sample size. I don't want to draw any conclusions based on how he looked in warmups in a meaningless scrimmage.

Fair enough, it might've just been a bad warm up day for him. But you've gotta admit that it's not the most encouraging sign. I look forward to seeing him in action tomorrow night.

Raptors republic have been doing daily vids talking about the players since they have media access for the training camps.

His shot has been off basically the entire week they’ve been there. It’s no cause for alarm, this is something he’s going to have to work on for his entire career.

His shot was on point in the Rico runs. I doubt his shot has regressed in the month since then.

He is tweaking his form, probably just going through an adjustment period.

Yep. If he can be league average on open 3's it's going to be real spooky for these other teams.

Ya better to fix his shooting form now in camp than in season. I always found Barnes shot was a bit stiff with very little elevation on his set shots.

Time to retire them useless no look passes. It was cute in the rookie season, just looks immature now.

I’m also the fun police so don’t mind me.
