2023 NBA Draft Prospects

I really like him and think his ceiling is very high. I could see him go top 6 or 7. I just can't tell if he's really a franchise guy at this point. I do think he can probably be a lead guard. Whether he's that Lamelo or Cade-level team leader remains to be seen.

I would take him ahead of Cam Whitmore and Dariq Whitehead at this stage.

I would take him over Whitmore.
I would not take him over Whitehead he is one of the most complete prospects in this class. His only weakness is elite shooting, though his shot looks clean and has potential, he also isn't an elite athlete, but still he's a really good athlete.

I think Whitehead is comparable to Mathurin with less athleticism, or he's comparable to Harrison Barnes (UNC) with less size. I'm not sold yet. The injury isn't going to help. I'm probably just as optimistic about Keyonte George as Whitehead at this stage. I think Whitehead could slip outside the top 8. I've been waiting to be proven wrong, but now it's not clear when he's going to play.

Thinking about Anthony Black. I wonder if BlackSex might be a little too spicy for SLC to handle. Might have to stick with the more subdued Whitehead.

Agreed they would have to take Wemba if they somehow luck into the top pick.

If the Jazz have picks #19 and #25 in this draft, I would strongly consider packaging them to trade up to #15 or #16. One of the starting-caliber bigs (Lively, Ware or Baba Miller) will probably be available in that range. If not, then someone like Jordan Wash or Arthur Kaluma is probably there.

Jazz currently look like a 28 - 30-win team to me right now. I think they need to unload at least one of Clarkson, Conley and Beasley, and probably two of them.

Unloading Clarkson should be easy.

Let Conley play the vet PG come off the bench role. If he embraces it, he can help the younger players. If he hates it, he is more likely to want to be bought out next season, work with his agent to go pursue trades, etc. Sort of a win/win if the Jazz play it right.

I still have Wemby, Scoot, GG and the Thompsons as the top 5 prospects. Jazz need to put themselves in a bankable position to draft in the top 5.

Nick Smith, Anthony Black, Cam Whitmore, Keyonte George could also challenge for top-5, imo.

The crazy thing is that you could totally play VW as a forward and go big with a true center. It’s like if KD and Gobert had a baby.

I know he moves really well, but I think defensively you want him on the other team's center primarily. I think it would be pretty hard on his body to have to move that fast laterally all the time to cover perimeter players.

Highly doubt any that ends up in the top 2 of the next draft lottery would consider trading that pick regardless of how many future picks OKC would offer. Most of OKC's picks are protected too.

I had that same thought. One would have to come via luck off the lottery, but what might it take to also secure the other pick? Pipe dream, but...

I'm not convinced that when the lottery happens, Utah will be in the mix. Not sure how the NBA would feel about UT getting the rights for that, from a marketing point of view. When Lebron was drafted, how convenient was it that Cleveland just so happened to get that first pick and of course the Patrick Ewing to the Knicks is legendary. Not sure the league would love Utah being the team that gets a mega talent like that... There are a couple of NBA radio guys who have stated that Utah should get that pick, or at least they feel they are deserved as this is the first tank job ever and with few exceptions they have always been a decent to good team.

Win the lottery, figure out a way to use all the capital they have recently acquired to get both and build around that!
