Dude....you are 6-5, 205. Maybe a little heavier now (I read he put on 8 pounds). We have every right to be concerned.

I can see his perspective. Fans harp on the defense, but its not the 80’s. Teams dont just come down and post a guy every possession. And offensively he’s more than capable of outpacing PJ. Most of this a moot point since we dont even know what the starting front court is going to be. I’m willing to wait for it to be proven the solution is not already on the roster.

Happens again here, why is he giving a straight line to the rim? That’s a simple pass and either a floater or if Bams help there is a second sooner it’s a simple dump off to whoever is wide open on the weak side for an easy layup. Defensively Dipo may just be more up to the task as our starting PG but we know that’s not going to happen

Are you not watching the whole play? He's actively fighting Robinson to not get a DHO from the center at the 3pt line(which is what Robinson likes to do), that is a decision of Lowry's in that situation and his knowledge of what Robinson usually does. My guess, he didn't expect a clear path behind Robinson to the basket.

Lowry may not be worth what Miami's paying him but he's still a very good player. Not always are you paid what you're worth, sometimes you paid more/less based on a team's need plus the current market for that player.

There was an era for 10+ years the NBA started to go smaller at PF and C but that's changing, there are bigs who have good range with their size like KD, AD, Towns, Mobley, JJJ and so on that are playing some 4. Also, playing small at PF means there's more chances for bigs to find huge mismatches in the low post since 80% of the defenders are too small to really stop them if they want go into that low post.

The question is, will teams hurt Miami going big more often or can Miami counter by taking advantage of usually slower bigs vs smaller 4s?

It's going to be a very interesting season.

That being said, I think the 2nd tweet AirP sent with the black team is the starting lineup

I think the 2 spot is more fluid, but I think that's the best possible lineup. The 4 wouldn't be as bad of a weakness if Yurt is holding down the 5. Jovic and Caleb ca get some run at the 4...and then Bam can assume the 5 for periods with Dedmon and Yurt out if we want to go smaller and more athletic. Considering the glaring weakness, I don't see any other way to cover it.

Yes I’m watching the whole play and that’s fine he’s protecting the DHO but you don’t give a straight line to the basket, fight from a different angle and react to the cut. He made a mistake here and the original play, went and watched it again. Herro was his matchup and he helped way too far off on the play.

I’m not saying he’s bad or not worth his contract, we’re much better when he’s healthy but his defense has been bad and sometimes it’s just flat out no resistance. That needs to improve or he needs a bench role behind someone who can. His position is too talented for that.

Or maybe he's just a young kid from overseas in a different country so that's why he might be timid during interviews?

Jovic just turned 19 in June, in 4 months Herro will be 23.

He's 6'10'', can handle the ball, pass and shoot, he's got the traits to be a bigger player you'd want in a positionless lineup.

Positionless basketball is a myth in the NBA. Untraditional roles happens, but not positionless.

It's a slow creep but it's getting closer each decade. Currently a lot of players filling the PF and SG roles now would have been just SFs 15 to 20 years ago with a few anomalies. In the next 10-15 years I would be surprised to see a few teams starting position less with of course, bigger possitionless players playing C or PF. I don't have the means yet, but it would be interesting to know the average sizes of starters and then rotation players currently vs 30 years ago. The average height overall is about the same (6'6'', 6'7'') which I'd expect there's more near that size then there was years ago(less really tall, really small players now) but the weight has went to the 220s in recent years up from 208/209 30 years ago.

Jovic definitely has potential, if anything as a stretch 4 with a solid handle and passing ability. He probably hits 7’0 at some point. Will we wait and hold on to him for him to realize that potential is the question.

People worried about Caleb at PF, Charles Barkley was 6'4. I stood next to the guy many times, he was barely 6'4.

Where Barkley had a strong core, Caleb has athleticism. I am in an optimistic "wait and see" mode.

Someone should make a thread to discuss Herro's extension.

This confirms that Herro is starting, imo. You don't give 130m to a guy who can't crack the starting lineup in his 4th season.
