Its not really Martin at the 4 that gets me worried. Its how we defend using bam at the top. So basically we have 4 guys around 6-5 trying to grab a rebound or defend the opposing big.

You just describng untraditional roles. The roles are changing. Its not becoming positionless. The Heat would be playing two small forward. While untraditional its still a role. Positionless basketball is when everyone has the same responsibilities, its similar to the classic Princeton offense.AirP. wrote:twix2500 wrote:Positionless basketball is a myth in the NBA. He's 6'10'', can handle the ball, pass and shoot, he's got the traits to be a bigger player you'd want in a positionless lineup.

It's a slow creep but it's getting closer each decade. Currently a lot of players filling the PF and SG roles now would have been just SFs 15 to 20 years ago with a few anomalies. In the next 10-15 years I would be surprised to see a few teams starting position less with of course, bigger possitionless players playing C or PF. I don't have the means yet, but it would be interesting to know the average sizes of starters and then rotation players currently vs 30 years ago. The average height overall is about the same (6'6'', 6'7'') which I'd expect there's more near that size then there was years ago(less really tall, really small players now) but the weight has went to the 220s in recent years up from 208/209 30 years ago.

Right... positionless. Of course, there will be players in that situation that are better at some things than others, positionless doesn't exactly mean the same quality of player at every position.

I think there is a big difference between being lucky and being a legit contender3ammy3uck3ts wrote:al bondiga wrote:Let's say it... the team is good, maybe not a title contender unless bam or hero suddenly become superstars... almost exactly the same as last season...guiddi Uphere we go!!
I thought the Lowry acquisition made us legit title contender buts let’s be real, we’ve been one shot from 2 finals in the last 3 years. Who else can say that? We’re legit contenders regardless but I agree Bam and Herro Juno’s could be the difference in putting us over the top. I’m optimistic both will improve n
Players in a cocoon without outside interference
Derived in superlative play from rookies, an incredible Duncan, plus a great bam and JB as a naughty character... gave us the first run 3 seasons ago
Great luck with chemistry in our players and with matchups gave us the season we had last year
But let's not get carried away here those were two flukes, if you want any more proof take a look at the Robinson case

It's not lucky, it's giving yourself a chance because life happens, Toronto has a championship because they took a shot, they weren't the best team, but they got the hardware. Unless you have a strong MVP candidate on your team all you can ask for is having a shot if you get an oppertunity.

So there is one spot left to decide in the starting unit between Caleb, Omer, and Highsmith

Money would be on Martin IMO.
Yurt to backup Bam and we may get some time of Bam at the 4 alongside Omer if Yurt can prove the 3 ball is legit.

Alright so what’s next? We have to cut money. Is it a 3 teamer with Jae and Westbrook coming in (maybe Craig or Saric too) and Lowry and Duncan going out? Picks included where needed?

Yeah u think they are gonna force it. Need an elite defender on both sides of Herro. It will be interesting to see how they deal with Lowry.3ammy3uck3ts wrote:MorbidHEAT wrote:Kobewade11 wrote:So there is one spot left to decide in the starting unit between Caleb, Omer, and Highsmith

Good news, Lock'd on Heat have deemed Butler, Bam and Herro good enough to be the top 3 players of a championship team. They even said this is a team built through the draft... what?

Who were the second and third best players on the Warriors?

Klay and Green with a historically great #1. I don't see any one of Butler, Bam or Herro being a strong contender as an MVP is what one of them needed to be.

This.
It’s great that Bam can switch and stay infront of a guy. But it kills us when they shoot a deep J and we have midgets fighting on the boards against 7 footers.

Exactly...we can make the Bam / Draymond comparison all day, but they still usually have a big to absorb some punishment in the back most of the game and can then use Dray at center as their closer.

3 very legit title runs in 4 years is hard to blame on good luck.
You could make a much stronger case for BAD luck keeping them from titles.

Let's hope the good version of Yurt from last year has been working this offseason and is ready to make real run this year.
