Even with all the injuries, this defense has still been very good

I know the Rams have a lot of injuries on their O-line, but our D-line has just been outstanding.

Kyle needs to put in Coleman to take these un-necessary hits the last few plays

For a week 4 game, this feels like a big win.
Being 2-0 in the division feels good. Stark contrast to last season's start in divisional games

Big win. All tied up for first and 2-0 in division is big

Re: Week 4: Rams @ 49ers
Huge win. Absolutely needed that. Defense continues to ball out, this time against a premier opponent. Offense still has a ways to go, but Kyle called a great game, and other than Jimmy missing a few throws that could have been huge plays, it was a solid performance. I figured we'd likely be 2-2 at this point in the season, just had them beating Chicago and losing to the Rams (probably should have known better). With games against Carolina and Atlanta coming up, the team has a great opportunity to go 4-2 through the first six. Super frustrating, as they should be undefeated in my view, but at least we're right back in play for the division title.

Re: Week 4: Rams @ 49ers
Was a much needed win and like last season's win against the Rams it felt like they got back on track a bit.
Offense was just ok and still a concern in my book.
Jimmy was solid and played a clean game but he did have some bad misses. He did have some heads-up plays to avoid sacks and he did his usual hit guys down the middle of the field for 10-15 yards.
Offensive line played decent and Burford really had his hands full with Donald for sure. But Jimmy mostly had clean pockets to work with and the Rams were really missing Von Miller.
Defense was outstanding again. Granted the defensive line feasted on a bad Rams offensive line but it still played great. I knew C.Ward would upgrade the secondary but who would've thought Hufunga would perform like he has. And we were concerned when Jimmie Ward went down but Gipson has yet to be a liability.
Know hopefully they won't screw up the Carolina and Atlanta games. With as up and down the offense of this team has been no game is a guarantee.

Re: Week 4: Rams @ 49ers
Always have to laugh and shake my head at takes like this.
If Jimmy was the starter from week 1 we'd still be 2-2. It's as if nobody saw what Jimmy play against in the rain against Indy last season and there were a lot of other issues aside from Lance's play that lead to the Bear's loss that I don't see Jimmy overcoming. And honestly I didn't think Lance played as bad as it was hyped up to be.
And no I don't buy the rust narrative for the Broncos game. Yeah maybe if he was just coming off the bench I could entertain that reasoning but he nearly played the entire Seattle game, had a full week of practice, and it's basically the same guys he's thrown to the last couple of seasons. And let's not forget Jimmy has a couple of "Denvers" a season so it's not like it's out of character for him to play awful.
I'd counter-argue that we'd be 3-1 with Lance because he likely wins the Denver game.

Honestly, the only thing missing from the offense is deep-threat ability. Shanahan's play-calling is predictable at times. And Jimmy either can't see certain plays or is too afraid but he routinely misses downfield big-play opportunities.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

We are also missing consistent play from our O-line. Have to expect that with an All Pro like Williams out, but now McKivitz will also be out for 2 months with a MCL sprain. Looks like Jaylon Moore will have to put on his big-boy pants for a while. The spotty O-line play shows up in both fewer lanes in the run game as well as not giving Jimmy much time to throw in passing situations. And the more we have to keep Kittle in to help blocking takes away another one of our offensive weapons at a time we could use more, not fewer, weapons.
I'd still like to see if there is a way to get Danny Gray involved in the offense. Yes, I know he isn't a deep threat since Jimmy can't throw that far, but there has to be a way that even a noodle-arm QB can hit him on crossing routes and let him just out-run his defender. Or try a few jet sweeps with Gray or Ray-Ray instead of running Deebo into the ground. And in terms of deep-threats, we had one play last night in which Juice was running alone on a deep route but Jimmy didn't see him and threw a checkdown incompletion instead. Since Jimmy doesn't have the arm to hit our WR's deep, if a guy like Juice can run free then a 20-yard "bomb" would be considered a deep threat ability by our current roster.

One of the failed third down plays had really blatant PI that wasn't called. Was that Deebo or Aiyuk? Couldn't believe they missed it. Defender arrived a full half second before the ball.
Also looked like a defender blatantly tried - but missed - to trip one of those guys when they were running down the sideline.

Yeah, that was a NASTY move. Quite impressive to create that much space on such a short field.
Unfortunately, Donald was sitting right in the middle of that would be passing lane to Aiyuk.

As being discussed in the season thread, losing McKivitz is quietly a pretty big loss.
