Right but both had handles and playmaking ability that Wemby just doesn't have

VW had 7 threes and 5 blocks in his first nba game at 18 years old. Durant looked like a future superstar and AD was the best prospect since Lebron and neither one come near VW. I don't think people have fully wrapped their heads around what type of prospect this kid is yet. Lebron is the only other guy that showed GOAT potential from Day 1.

Wembanyama was ineligible for this year's draft for 4 **** days. Born January 4th 2004, if he was born December 31st 2003 we would have seen him doing these things in the preseason for an NBA team.

I'm still mad about these rules. We're going to miss a year of his NBA career because the guy was born 4 days too late. Damn shame.

That shot near the end of the game where Wemby backed down a defender, turned right, realised he backed himself into an awful position under the basket, backed down a little more, fast turned left, then went in the air, hung, then when his defender started getting lower from his jump Wemby had enough control to change his shot and put it perfectly off the backboard. Its the “wow it was an exaggerated layup that he himself put himself into a bad position to make” but showed his poise and IQ to already know how to get out of bad situations and his control to know when he needed to put the ball up and with how much force. Mature, very mature for their age. Scoot and Wemby both..

Best center prospect since Shaq, best point guard prospect since Rose.

Idk how anyone can watch Wemby & not be absolutely floored by what an absurd prospect he is. Like LeBron, he’s just really like nothing you seen before them. Victor legitimately sometimes doesn’t even seem real lol people say it loosely but he really looks like a cheat code character out there.

I admit, I’ve never watched these guys. I don’t watch basketball outside of the NBA mostly. But wow. Incredible prospects. I didn’t think the Wemby hype could be real but he’s terrifying. He has much better mobility, fluidity to his movement than Porzingis or even AD. He looks more like a damn SG, bigger KD in how he moves and plays. Imagining some sort of 7’2 or 7’4 KD/KG hybrid with that kind of speed is like a 2K online character build they stopped allowing a couple years ago.

This game reminds me of when Jabari Parker faced Andrew Wiggins in college early in the season that one year.

Yup best center prospect since Shaq, best prospect since Lebron. Expect a tankthon next year between the bottom feeders fellas. Health is obviously his biggest enemy but which ever team that nabs him set for a star off the jump for several years.

Similar with Scoot, Don Mitchell/Morant who will continously torch the defense.

And this is not all this draft has to offer. I expect a lot of fans to also fall in love with at least Dariq Whitehead and Cam Whitmore, and maybe Jarace Walker, for their production and/or highlights (provided of course that their play translates well to the next level). And then you'll have the usual crowd that loves their long shot-blocking Centers with the chance to hit a 3 once in a while like Lively and Ware.

You mean g league game?

I think wemby is going to disappoint you. He shoots worse than Kristaps but he's a better defender.

The correct comp for Wemby is a KP/Davis hybrid. He is not Durant on offense, that is just silly.

He's just so likely to get injured that you have to look at him like MPJ. Where do you take him in this draft?

I think Scoot is the smart number 1 pick here. I'd take Wemby at 2 though.

NBA just doesn't understand Europe.

Darko was actually one heck of a talent, but team didn't understand his mental limitations, an those are incredibly difficult to assess.
Andrea would have likely been #1 again in a redraft after his rookie season, just he then completely stopped developing.
Those guys were legit talents, but unfortunately there's always an element of uncertainty when looking at future development.

It’s crazy how much opinion swings in one thread. It’s polar opposite from the other Victor thread on the GB lol.

Honestly if this guy was like around 6-10 to 7 foot I'd be way more hyped on him. I really question just the long-term viability of someone that height being able to do what he does and stay healthy from the structural stand-point of the human body. It's just something we've never seen happen before.
