I'm still mad about these rules. We're going to miss a year of his NBA career because the guy was born 4 days too late. Damn shame.

Honestly if this guy was like around 6-10 to 7 foot I'd be way more hyped on him. I really question just the long-term viability of someone that height being able to do what he does and stay healthy from the structural stand-point of the human body. It's just something we've never seen happen before.

Εh, we haven't seen a Zion before either, it didn't stop anybody from throwing the kitchen sink at him
Seems like every 2 out of 3 top picks in the last decade are disappointments anyway, so you may as well take a chance. There's no guarantees with any 19 year old.

Miami dolphins owner allegedly tried paying his dumb ass coach to tank games in a season like this. Reports came out later and people were fake mad about it like they wouldn’t want that

Most encouraging thing I saw is that VW actually look like he's put some muscle on him from the last time I saw him about a year ago. He's not that far from a Gobert-type body, which is pretty great for his age.

Gobert on defense. Durant on offense. The most dangerous possible prospect for today's NBA.

Lol KD was never as good as we thought if y’all are saying this

Every team who isn’t contending for a title needs to be tanking to the bottom to get him

He literally looks like a 7-3 Durant on offense, Draymond on defense, with the rim protection of Gobert.

Luka was the best prospect since lebron and it was obviously when he was killing pros at his age but we overate things like size and athleticism

Jet lag, different rules, unfamiliar court. They were always going to be the underdogs.

Wembanyama may not stuff the stat sheet tonight, but he's making a visible impact on both ends of the court. Hard to believe how much ground he covers on defense.

Wemby is usually single digit scorer for them in Europe, he scored 37 in thus game I believe. They werent playing real basketball here I believe, but I didnt watch the game.

He’s an anomaly all the way around. There was probably 3 other guys that height that were hugely athletic in the history of the NBA. It’s hard to draw any injury concerns from a sample size that small, especially when one of them was the #1 or #2 longevity guy ever.

He's averaging 17 points this season, short sample to date but he made terrific improvements as compared to last year. Too bad he won't get more Euroleague exposure as the French league by itself is not enough challenging for him.

How does Wembenyama compare to Holmgren. Better frame and more atheltic, but how do their games compare

Great duel. Wembanyama has made me change my stance on him. I thought he’d be a lot slower and plodding. Excited to see how his career goes.

Scoot has some Jordan-like mannerisms, and the way he twists his feet while flying for a dunk. Super smooth guard.

I haven’t watched the game so I’ll reserve judgement but this is just going to add to the already wildly unrealistic hype for this kid.

The kid looks fantastic, but I’d rather take a “wait and see” approach before calling him the next KD with KG defense, and the hottest prospect since LeBron. Great prospect but I still think Doncic was further along in their development at the same age. He was playing EuroLeague for Real Madrid at age 16 and became MVP two years after that. VW is playing against easier opponents and has inferior stats in those matches - a single-point PPG average. But today he looked very good, admittedly. Hopefully his body won’t break down and he won’t be another “what-if” story. Good luck to the kid.

Yeah, I really hated his move from the Euroleague, I know he had tremendous games, but I feel that people should still tamper their expectations a bit, cause his long jumpers aren't always falling this way, I still dont think he will be superstar offensively, but who really knows. The selling point on him should always be defense first.

Missed the game because it was very late here in France but watched a lot of highlights and I'm very happy Wembanyama has been able to show his skillset with all eyes on him. But I didn't know anything about Scoot Henderson and he's just wow, definitely a lock for the 2nd pick. What I liked about both guys is how hard they played on both sides of the ball, they both tried hard defensively as well as carrying their team offensively. Can't wait for part 2 of the matchup on thursday, at least it'll be at a more reasonable hour for us european residents.

VW looks like the real deal. Crazy how he moves and handles himself in that frame. Defensive monster. His offensive game will take some time but the foundation is there. When he joins another star and has a better supporting cast this guy is going to be in the headlines for years to come.

The game was surprisingly competitive throughout. Victor was somewhat quiet offensively early (I was very surprised when they started mentioning his total later in the game) and then caught fire from 3 late to stage a comeback. Scoot more consistently made his presence felt on offense, but late in the game Victor had emphatic blocks on him (one on a dunk attempt, the other on a jumper).

But I agree with your overall take that Victor is a defensive prospect first. Outside of his shooting, the rest of his offense isn't NBA level yet. He scored on a couple of drives and post-ups, but I couldn't picture those same possessions against a stronger NBA frontcourt right now.

Right now I project him as a mutant Serge Ibaka: a DPOY candidate who can space the floor and occasionally punishes opponents with his finishing. The player everyone wants to pair with a strong ball handling scorer/playmaker. But as his body matures and his skill set continues to develop, I do think there's no reason to limit what he might be. The fluidity and coordination is pretty jaw dropping.

Future Rockets front court of Eason / Jabari / Wemby is going to be nuts.

That 3 and D....good lord.
