That 3 and D....good lord.

That would be nuts. What would Sengun become? Backup big?

We got 96 minutes between the 4 and 5.

Can realistically play all three over 30 a game.

With Wemby, I would have serious concerns over injury, so I would manage his minutes anyway.

Not playing devil's advocate here, maybe I'm just don't have enough relevant info in this situation.

But how is Wembanyama different from say Porzingis? Both ultra tall, skilled, reasonably athletic big men.

I guess almost a bit of a dig at Porzingis, that maybe he should be better than what he's shown so far in the NBA.

Looks like a Monstar out there. Legit hybrid of Durant and Kristaps on a 7'3-4" frame with an 8' wingspan. Great prospect and the hype will reach enormous heights like it did with Zion 3 years ago. Teams will tank to be part of the sweepstakes.

With that said players with even less physical outliers have struggled mightily with injuries. Perhaps Victor will be THE standout. An 82 game season + preseason/playoffs is no joke though.

Cole Aldrich and Cam Payne would like a word.

In general pretending that draft picks are more than informed gambles is a bad look. Like absolutely no one knows if Jabari Smith, Jaden Ivey or Keegan Murray will end up a better player, and Sam Presti would be the first person to tell you that. GMs and scouts just decide between those guys based on a few fairly random factors (and their gut) and they don't have any more insight or control than that.

Your point is fair, but you aren't doing yourself any favors with the first line. Aldrich was drafted 12 years ago, and Payne 7 years ago. I'm not sure you can call a team a train wreck because they miss a lottery pick once every 5-10 years. The original thread of discussion was being critical of teams that are *repeatedly* drafting in the lottery with nothing to show for it. Like my Warriors years ago, in the pre-Lacob dark ages heh

Well OKC has only had 4 lotto picks in the past 12 years, and Presti made all those picks too. Seems fair to point that out half of a GM's lotto picks have been full busts if you're going to say your team drafts beautifully. And explicitly claim that Presti hasn't blown two lotto picks.

More generally I really do think that the draft is the thing realgm sounds the worst talking about. It's obviously fundamentally a lot of guesswork and that's how everyone involved in any level of prospect-watching talks about it, but on these boards the discourse often isn't any more sophisticated than 'this GM drafted this dark horse guy who magically learned to shoot like Curry so he is good, that GM drafted two awesome prospects who busted so he is bad.'

Only issue is.. I dont think hes as athletic as everyone thinks he is.. hes borderline slow on the perimeter which could pose a problem.. other than that.. I mean obviously

Scoot seems SUPER underrated.. he looks like a 6'1 CP3 and his defense could translate.. dude is just heady on the court with the athleticism to destroy nba perimeter defenses.. some GM is going to have their hands full figuring this out

I like both of their dispositions. Scoot brings that constant intensity, and Wembanyama has that quiet confidence. Biggest fear for Wemb is obviously injuries. For Scoot it's probably his size, although he's certainly explosive, he looked like 6'1"? with an average wingspan (maybe I'm wrong).

The injury risk with that body just seems really high. While I think Scoot has all the makings of a freak player himself.

I think this could easily turn into the 2019 draft all over again. The physical phenom that truly looks like something we’ve never seen before, but with that comes major questions about his health. Then a freak athletic PG that may not seem to have the same ceiling as the freak at #1, but still has a crazy high ceiling with a lot less worry about health.

Scoot looks so strong. He's got that big lower body like Chris Paul. Built to hold up like a tank. Probably will be a 10-15 year all star no doubt. The strength and build is perfect. He's got the passion and drive of a Russell Westbrook. What an incredible combo of traits. I expect nothing less than All-NBA eventually. He will be a championship piece. The team that gets #2 will be very very lucky!

Nice!

Check this quote out from Silver, he's actually encouraging the tank this year like they are playing for a championship!

"Oh, my," said Silver in a press conference ahead of a preseason game in Abu Dhabi being played between Atlanta and Milwaukee. "He certainly has all the attributes of a true game-changer. ... I know that many of our NBA teams are salivating at the notion that potentially, through our lottery, they could get him, so they should all compete very hard next season."

I keep seeing people throw out the KD comparison... But KD was just another level of fluidity. Go back and look up his Texas or rookie year highlights, he's just so compact with all his moves and even at that point in time was much more skilled than Wembanyama... So not really a good comparison.

As for what a good comparison would be... I'm not really sure  Wembanyama's length really is something else.

As for VW I have no words. I knew he was good but never expected that type of performance. Just wow.

Scoot/Jalen Green backcourt would be obscene. Would be a league pass staple.

A bit of a small backcourt but the front court could make up for it no?

No, he's telling them to compete very hard because ****'s rigged. Translation: "You want him? Don't embarrass me." I mean, it almost doesn't need a translation. He literally said: "You could get him in the lottery, so compete very hard." How else am I supposed to interpret that other than that the lotto is rigged?

Am I joking? Yes.

That doesn't mean it isn't true, though.

Yeah, you and Utah have had your fun in the sun. The teams that need him are Charlotte, Sacramento, or Washington. Everyone else has won a lot in the last 20 years or had a lot of top 4 lottery picks recently

None of them will be as bad as us. Sac probably has zero shot. Charlotte is likely to be in the lottery but they wont be as bad as SA or Utah, and Washington will probably be fighting for play-in territory around the 10th/11th seed.

Of course we did have our fun in the sun, but we also had our franchise upended and dragged through the mud and didn't just decide to mail it in and tank like most teams do. Pop didn't bend over and hand Kawhi to the Lakers. So for that, in my mind, Silver owes us :)

(i'm only half serious btw)

Jazz have never won the lottery or had a #1 pick. This will be their year.
