Yeah, that's what confused me. Trade them now and some team is taking on Draymond's possible $54M salary. Tough sell, IMO.

Barring injury he is going to be good for at least one of those two years. If he takes his option he’s one year away from being 30mm of salary reduction. That makes it easy to extend Poole into his wake. I’m not seeing what’s so confusing?

Draymond's punch on Poole...

Looks like it was a reaction to being shoved by Poole.

Poole's shove looks like it was a reaction to Draymond getting into his face/space.

Not an overreaction to trade Green to a team that wants to tank

Damn

This is actually worse than I imagined. Draymond could have seriously hurt Poole, not just with the sucker punch but also with the way Poole's head flew back and connected with the wall/floor. The punch itself was capable of causing both a concussion and whiplash. Then, the force of Poole's head hitting the wall/floor could have resulted in a quick second concussion. There's actually a term for the resulting injuries...Coup-Contrecoup

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coup_contrecoup_injury

In addition to the "What the hell was Draymond thinking?" question, why Poole would not have been checked out by the team's medical staff afterwards needs also to be questioned.

I don't want Simmons but I am not sure any team would trade for Draymond at this point.

How does Jordan Poole move on from this?

Draymond just ruined what should have been a glorious start of a championship defending season.

Interesting. For contracts to work may need to do something like:

Simmons and Cam Thomas or Dray and Wiseman.

He should be suspended for ring night. That was dangerous. Luckily Poole is okay.

A couple of thoughts...

(1) Such a trade would actually make Brooklyn a pretty dangerous team and set up Draymond for some kind of effed up revenge tour. If he's traded, I'd rather see Draymond go to a team that sucks so that he can appreciate what he gave up.

(2) Matching salaries would most likely result in Wiseman being included in the deal. So, you'd have Draymond and Wiseman going out and only Simmons coming in. In which case, the Warriors should be looking for a draft pick or two. Unfortunately, all Brooklyn has to offer is a couple of complicated conditional first rounders in 2023 and 2027:

2023 first round draft pick from Houston or Philadelphia (outgoing swap, Brooklyn outgoing to Houston or Utah)
Houston will receive the more favorable of its 2023 1st round pick and Brooklyn's 2023 1st round pick; Brooklyn will receive the more favorable of (i) the less favorable of its pick and the Houston pick and (ii) Philadelphia's 2023 1st round pick and Utah will receive the least favorable of the three (via Houston's right to swap for Brooklyn; via Philadelphia to Brooklyn) [Brooklyn-Cleveland-Houston-Indiana, 1/16/2021; Brooklyn-Philadelphia, 2/10/2022; Brooklyn-Utah, 6/30/2022]

2027 first round draft pick from Philadelphia
At least two years after Philadelphia conveys a 1st round pick to Oklahoma City if this pick is conveyed to Oklahoma City by 2026, Philadelphia's 1st round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 1-8 in 2027 and 1-8 in 2028; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Brooklyn by 2028, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2028 2nd round pick to Brooklyn [Brooklyn-Philadelphia, 2/10/2022]

I can’t believe we got video of this incident and it’s even worse than I was imagining. Dray is just a straight up thug, and a cowardly one at that, with the total sucker punch. Get rid of this fool, we can’t have this. Wondering now if Poole even wants to stay if Draymond is still here. If he wants out because of this it’s a very bad look for a franchise no matter how you feel about Poole as a player. Draymond should be suspended a minimum of 25 games for that IMO, without pay. Don’t think they’ll do it but they might actually be able to void his contract over this, and Poole could actually press charges.

I'm just gonna keep saying it until Flunkster Dude reads this and passes it along to Bob:

Send Dray to TNT...

Dray and Wiseman for Collins, Okongwu, and their 2023 1st.

This from TMZ...

https://www.tmz.com/2022/10/07/draymond-green-video-punch-jordan-poole-practice-golden-state-warriors/

Shocking video shows Draymond Green violently attacking Jordan Poole, viciously punching him to the ground right in the middle of a team practice ... video obtained by TMZ Sports.

Green and Poole clearly have beef ... you see them trash-talking each other, and then it turns physical. Green walks up to Poole and gets in his face. Poole pushes Green away with 2 hands to the chest. Green, who is 6'6" and 230 lbs, responds with a vicious right cross to the face ... so ferocious, it knocks Poole to the ground and it may have knocked him out cold.

After seeing the video. Holy crap.

A few things
1) If I were Poole, I'd seriously consider filing charges against this goon. And perhaps more importantly, I would NEVER want to play with him. He gets in Poole's face/space, so Jordan pushes him away. Then, out of nowhere, comes the sucker punch which could have done considerable damage. WTF was Green doing here?

2) How can the Warriors still want this guy on the team? I just can't imagine why you would put up with this crap AGAIN from Draymond. I would seriously consider trading him within the next few weeks. How about to Atlanta for Collins (I saw that proposed)? Actually like that idea and perhaps Atlanta would be willing, thinking they might be a contender. Find someone to take Green off your hands and let's move forward without him.

3) We're told it wasn't over the money/salary issue -- Poole's or his own. Yet, it's very likely that is the root of all this. Draymond doesn't want to see Poole get paid while he's left in the cold not knowing his status. What a petty, small, insecure man Draymond is.

4) Stop babying Draymond. FIRE HIS ASS and GET HIM OUT OF HERE.

To match Simmons salary the Warriors would have to add $3.1M in salary to Draymond's. More like DDV or Moody than Wiseman.
