I have not, but I don't practice criminal law so not the best source for anecdotes about what is normal. Notable that the delay is only for 5 days (3 business days).

I wonder if Johnson/prosecution side is not cooperating. I certainly am not defending Miles but for it to keep being pushed down the road, it seems plausible that one side is not, and wouldn't be there be punishment if it is the defendant side

Impossible to know if the extra time is being utilized for negotiations of some kind or if there are no existent negotiations, causing the defense to buy more time.
What good does is do to delay the inevitable if this is some slam dunk case?
I would assume Bridges can afford some exceptional criminal defense attorneys though.

I don't know why that guy chose to tweet like that. I saw that August 19th date and freaked the **** out thinking the preliminary hearing had been scheduled for August 19, 2023.

Um….paid? That’s not good. On her end. So she’s admitting to taking money? If it’s serious, just say no? Submit every bribe as evidence?

is she saying she was paid or that he paid someone to force her to take them down? because the former is not a great look and if he paid her im sure there is a line about not talking about it. she is lucky those pictures and the police report speak for themselves.

Neither? What would this be evidence of?
But generally speaking settlement offers are not admissible as evidence.

Settlement offers are not admissible, and also would be of questionable value in the criminal case unless you do so to expressly obstruct (as in the settlement agreement purports to restrict cooperation).

i guess this is a good time to remind everyone that this is a CRIMINAL case and she is not the plaintiff. The government is the one prosecuting.

Re: Felony Charges: The Miles Bridges Thread
when cases are repeatedly continued like this, does it require everyone to be in court, or is this stuff settled over phone calls, emails etc... the former seems like a colossal waste of everyones time and taxpayers money.

I know, but the prosecution still needs her cooperation, and she’s acting sketch on social media and the trial keeps getting mysteriously delayed

Re: Felony Charges: The Miles Bridges Thread
So...was watching a doc on a high school teacher accused of sexually assaulting his students down in Miami. He was arrested six years ago - six years - and has still not been brought to trial. Delay after delay. Broken system. Trial is supposed to begin next month, I believe. One of the victims moved across the country and the pre-trial stuff is handled via Zoom - fortunately for her.
