Interview from today with some footage. Very interesting question and response at 3:20 when being asked how he stacked up against his teammates from Kentucky. Uncomfortable stutter lol

Ya, there are cases where kids with a more 'urban' vernacular are unfairly labeled as poor interviewees - this isnt one of those. He is legitimately hurting his stock right now.

This seems too much like Gerald Green all over again.

Interviews...didn't seem that bad. Actually seemed authentic.

Whether can play or not is a different story.

#1 talent. I am very intrigued. Can't wait to find out who takes him. I'm not seeing the supposed red flags people are claiming from these interviews. He seems very aware of his predicament that he himself created and he's doing the best to answer concerns teams might have. I do think he likely would rather fall to NY and its huge market than be taken high lottery by teams like SAC, IND and DET. Just a hunch I have about his personality.

McGrady was basically the same interview wise if not worse...it was actually pretty funny to me, but it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I get strong McGrady vibes from Shaedon. Charles Oakley said that McGrady was the smartest player he'd ever met...and he only played with him until he was about 20/21.

I think things probably come easily to Shaedon and he seems a bit laid back and aloof. He'll probably be surprised if he struggles in the NBA, but likely figure things out.

The intelligence, talent and tools all seem to be there in abundance.

How hard of a worker is he? Does he get bored easily? Does he have a good motor? Those are the questions I'd have.

But I see him succeeding in the NBA once he acclimates.

Honestly I really do believe talent and ceiling wise he's #1.

I have him as my #1, but I also love Dyson Daniels game and have him in my top 4.

Only adding this here as it's the first game we've seen him play for years.

Looks like Portland made the right call betting on upside. Kid can ball. Big time.

his skill and ability have never been a question, it's his desire. There's a lot of really bad or non-existent defense played in that clip tbh though.

I think he has the most potential of anyone from the class, in terms of upside as a #1. At least, I'd put him right next to Paolo and Ivey in that category

Portland might be one of the better landing spots for him as well. Guys like Sharpe, I think they need to be brought along a bit slower and not given the reigns right away. Gives them a better chance of breaking bad habits

Huge risk, huge reward.

this Portland team is pretty crazy athletically now that they added Keon, Sharpe and Grant. it'll be fun to watch.

His athleticism is just so effortless. If he has the hunger, he can be a tremendous player.

Love that PDX swung big, the only chance we have of taking a step towards contention is hitting huge in the draft. SS was the right move, even if he doesnt pan out. It was an admission that PDX is missing high level talent outside Dame in a big way.

He was barely noticeable in the Sac game. It’s there though and he is very young. If he wants it, he could have it. I think being around Dame is a great spot for him. If he doesn’t put it together after a few years with Dame he isn’t going too.

You saw how well Simons developed under Dame and CJ's wings. Sharpe is already much further along in term of moves than Simons was when he came to Portland. Athletically Sharpe seems quite a bit stronger than Simons was. Additionally Sharpe looks pretty promising defensively. He has a long ways to go to become a contributor in the NBA but the early signs are very encouraging.

Will Sharpe and Simons work together though? Can Simons play the 1 full time, or is Sharpe able to play the 3?

Sharpe seemed decent, I liked what I saw from him in the video above. Obviously it's pre-season, but his athleticism popped off the screen and he had good footwork and some Kobe-esque moves.

Sharpe is 6'6 w/ a 7ft wingspan and the frame to get pretty big. I think he can for sure play SF, but would prefer to finally have a big SG on this team. Scarcity, not just in Portland but around the whole league, of prototypical sized SF could push him into SF long term though IMO.

Simons likely would be best as a 6th man. He doesnt have the PG skills to play that spot full time, unless paired with a SG who has far above average creation (And SS IMO doesnt project like that).

don't think hes a true 3, maybe in some smaller lineups and against specific matchups but you're kinda taking away some of his advantages if you're putting him at the 3.

His first game was last night against Sac. Impressive. This kid has all the tools. I don’t know if he has the mindset but his potential is the highest of any player in his draft class.
