Two-way players can play up to 50 games with the NBA team....no hurry to add Cain to the 15-man roster.

Re: Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK
Heat need to trade for Crowder’s expiring not hope for a buyout. They need to get off Duncan’s salary. A Trade of Crowder and Saric for Robinson, Highsmith, and Yurtseven gets us off of 20.4 million of salary next year. That’s 20.4 that absorbs a good chunk of Herro’s new salary next year. The trade also gives us an extra 1 million in wiggle room to give us a total of 1.6 million which is enough to sign a two way player when the time comes.

There's a distinct possiblity of Yurt being a better player and and more impactful contributer this season than Crowder.
He could also be a complete liability on defense and fail to solidify a rotation slot.
If it were up to me, I wouldnt do that deal.
The upside is too good to give up on for Crowder.

You know Spo wants defenders. A lot of players need shots everyone can't shoot more that 10 shots a game. Jae is a player who is effective on small volume of shots. And you know Herro is going to try and lead the team in fgasBishop45 wrote:If Crowder won't get in the way of Jovic mins, then it's whatever, but if he would, then it's 'meh'

That's true.
But we're talking about Micky here, the same person who got rid of Mike Miller during a potential 3pt season to save a couple mill. I think Arison 100% would want this deal.. I think the Suns think they can get a better return which is why they haven't opted for it yet.

Re: Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK
Herro getting 18 fga
Bam getting 18 fga
Butler gets 16 fga
Lowry getting 12
Oladipo getting 12
Total 76
Miami Heat average 85 fga a game
How are they spreading out these shots?

So according to Ira Dipo must’ve got worse this offseason to the point he went from being a major contributor towards the end of the playoffs to not even being in the rotation? I guess we’ll see

Definitely not, Martin and Dipo are both better and have higher upside
Martin obviously, dipo I would have to wait and see
I like Jae and wouldn’t mind him coming back but he’s not that good anymore. His defense even sucks now and he shoot’s 40% from the field. I can’t say for certain he’s an upgrade over anyone at his position we already have
jae has something very few people in the nba have... experience, that knows how to play and is serviceable... it is not that I love the way he plays, is that he can be a glue guy... that is if we get him cheap!

His price is $10,183,800, which needs to come from our other players because we're nearly in the luxury tax. If he is bought out, maybe we would have a place for him, but I'd rather give his minutes to Caleb Martin.

Am I missing something; did Mia make an offer?

Duncan is so unnecessary with the other guys on this roster. Issue is thats the only thing we have to trade salary wise and teams don't seem interested. I would love Crowder on this team and we know he'd fit right in.

I don't trust Caleb in that spot. He's too skinny and I would worry for injury as he seems to get banged up a lot.
Even if he gained 10 pounds, he was listed at 205 last year. Jae is 235. Tucker was what, 240? I think that role on this team needs to be bigger. We've had more success with the thicker players in that role (Jae and Tucker) than the lanky ones (Ariza).

Re: Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK
Thats it not suggesting he gotten worse. Its about distribution of shots. Coincidence that I just ask this question. The one thing that may open up shots is that Buttler and Dipo and maybe Lowry will be on some form of load managers which may free up minutes and shots for others in some games.3ammy3uck3ts wrote:

Remember Ira is a mouth speaker for the Heat organization, will usually say things to prep the fanbase as they are coming from the Heat staff, they don't necessarily mean they are correct just trying to get fans to focus on other things. These is alluding to closing lineups more than likely, last Year Herro being the 6th man got a lot of closing minutes because he was one of our best scorers in the 4th quarter next to Jimmy. Something that may not be possible this year with Dipo, whom primarily will be getting his minutes as the six man but may not get the luxury of closing in the 4th unless Miami needs a defensive stop to secure a win. Also with Miami now have, Yurt & Jovic whom can play in combination with Bam in the lineup. The minutes may shrink even more, and lets not talk about if Duncan comes out blazing hot shooting a high percentage this year. So their almost getting the fanbase expectations to simmer down on Dipo coming out from the get go getting starter lite minutes.
Also notice how he mentions Kyle, Herro, Jimmy, Struss in the tweet, alluding to those guys primarily absorbing the Guard minutes, as if Jimmy will be slinding to SG spot in most rotations instead of what we were originally thinking of him sliding into the PF spot. tells me that Duncan, Caleb will be getting minutes in the SF roles more often in some rotations with the Emergence of Jovic getting minutes at the PF & C position on some schemes when those guys are out there together. So yes we could be Seeing Dipo relegated to say 12-18 minutes max. From what we've seen these pre season games, Duncan/Struss & Jovic play off each other real well.

Yes. It's nice to have a bruiser on the team that can physically wear the other team out. It's a good alternative dimension to have available. Yursavven and Jovic may help
