Am I insane or do Garza and Lawson look pretty solid?

Lets keep them. Our g league team should win it all.

Undefeated. No KAT, Rudy, Prince, JMAC, Paschall, and Dozier, NO PROBLEM. We got NAZ REID BABY. Luka may have just won a two way spot. Not sure if it would be Lawson or Paschall out, but tough to turn away that kind of offensive firepower. The Lakers couldn’t beat us with their starters out or our starters out. Even when Bev played dirty pool and went in to challenge the 4th string Wolves. Damn fun game, and so nice to have DEPTH :) :) :) GOD DAMN I CANNOT STOP SMILING :) :) :)

Yeah from the limited amount I saw I can't imagine they wouldn't have G League spots. Garza especially.

Garza might take a two way spot and Paschall would be the odd man out. Paschall might just retire rather than play in the G. Although if he stays patient he might find a 10 day opportunity or get his tires kicked by a tanking team with nothing to lose.

Garza was my guy, fun to see him show out in front of Money Mayweather.

Seeing all the he can comments made me think of this. Skip to 6:38 and watch till 6:50.

The questions around Garza are:

1. Can he defend at a high level? So far he is has only faced 3rd string (maybe second tonight,) competition. Can he guard AD or Bryant in a way that enables help to be effective (not gonna ask him to guard them straight up.)

2. How is his back to the basket game? We haven’t seen a lot of him in the post. Mostly we see him shooting from range or facing the basket. Having a back to the basket game is important at this level.

3. How is his handle? We haven’t seen Garza put the ball on the deck much. Obviously this is not the most important skill for a center, but it does help.

We know Naz can go off scoring in some games. His problem is defense and rebounding. I am most impressed by his 13 rebounds tonight.

Every player has weaker points to their game but that doesn't mean they can't be a big help to the club. Garza looks like he has all the tools needed to be effective in our system. The knock on him was that he was super slow. I'm not seeing that. Can he defend? I'm thinking well enough without putting him out to defend on an island.

Apparently Finch loves him. Good enough for Finch, good enough for me.

Naz does look like he put in the work this summer, but I just don't see where the minutes are coming from if Finch sticks with his plan of having Gobert or KAT on the floor at all times. Of course they won't play all 82 and he'll get his opportunities, but I'm not sure how consistent they will be. Naz feels like a guy someone will pay decent money for this summer.

I agree about trusting Finch. The thing is my questions were not rhetorical. I was/am honestly asking about those things. I don’t watch college basketball and I haven’t seen those situations happen in a way that answers my questions.

I think the words “grow into our system,” imply he’s not ready to be in our system yet. To me, that seems like he’s probably destined for the G-League.

That disappoints me, since I won’t get to see him for a while (unlike his fans in Iowa!), but it’s a viable career path for Garza, and may be why he chose to sign an Exhibit 10 with the big-loaded Wolves versus other possible offers. For many teams, the G-League has not been a pathway to an NBA career, but the Wolves have shown they use their affiliate that way. Naz, Nowell, McLaughlin have all become significant parts of the pro club, and maybe Garza can follow that course, as he continues working to change his body.
