Our final pre-season game comes off improving individual and team performances. On the one hand, results don't matter (as much as in regular season); on the other, process and development do. Looking forward to seeing us gear up for the regular season with some focused, competitive two-way play.

1ST Q: SPURS 31 THUNDER 26

End of Q details. We had a double digit lead that dwindled to 5. Both teams were running back and forth, and the erratic play favoured opponent in putbacks and deflections to retain possessions. 7-0 run for them.

We got roped into a pace that suited opponent better and it was just a bit too chaotic to stay crisp with decisions. We're not yet the sum of our parts and a faster pace shows it.

Only 3 TOs; balanced scoring, better renounding.

Juat getting handled on both ends. Telegraphed passes picked off. Drives contested. And our D is porous, the most disapointing part. Just poor decisions that are exploited.

Primo has the right ideas, and at times gets by his man to execute them, but isn't quite quick enough to do it consistently. Better bulk, and decisiveness, but still at times too deliberate. Instinct and skill have to get to an automatic level.

Devin's hustle and instincts and skil on D are on another level so far this season. And this was the more advanced part of his game coming into the league.

2ND Q: SPURS 62 THUNDER 62

Enf od Q execution. CRUCIAL. We gave up THREE O boards, gave them THREE extra possessions, then fouled on an end of Q 3 miss.

Jeremy was ball watching and was late to the closeout. 0.7 left. *sigh*

Flagrant 1. Steep learning curve for the young man.

Another good defensive play by Devin, both positioning and execution to deflect their end of Q pass to the roller to the rim.

We scored two 30+ point Qs but just gave one back.

Because of theri pace and our being a step behind, we've been chasing them and fouling, resulting in 19-23FTs for them. We've gotten to the FT line well enough, 19 times, but have made a poor 12. That's SEVEN points left on the court.

We're rebounding really well on both ends leading 26-19 and 11-5 on O. Fourteen assists is good ball sharing, too.

We finished the half with 9 TOs, though, so it was a far less clean Q than the 1ST. They also got 5 steals on us by half which also indicated a response to pressure that needs adjusting. Our passes were too slow and easily picked off so our play sets / creation off of reads and reactions need more focus and precision.

Sixth man Primo leads the way with 14 points so far in only 12 minutes and Devin joins him as the other double digit scorer. Nearly everyone has scored and nearly everyone has registered an assist shows well.

Habits. Jakob's tendency to 1. not dunk and 2. pass it out when he's closest to the basket (best play) is still there and still annoying.

Tre's flaoters and 3s looking better.

Primo's got more O moves in his toolkit.

Devin's two activity stands out well.

We have to pick up the pace and focus. Fewer TOs, better passes, more assertive finishes at the rim.
