Obviously I can't disclose which player or the source, but for the first time I actually have solid info. The player being discussed is one of the bench players and not one of the starters.

Believe it or not, I don't care. I'm not looking for attention. Just giving you guys a heads up that something is in the works.

Personally I don't doubt that who you heard it from is a legitimate source, nor would I flame if it doesn't turn out because not everything comes to fruition that's discussed, nor do you have the kind of overly hyped attitude that some trolls come out with.

My only thing about the news is that it's kinda underwhelming lol

Unless what's being discussed is an absolute steal, that just sounds like a minor tweak and we already looked like we're going to have much better depth going into this season. While of course, adding more certainly won't hurt, I also don't get too hyped about it because it's not likely to push us into another level of true contention. I guess my other caveat to that would be if it's for fairly decent young prospect because I'm always interested to see how much better those guys can become lol the rest to me would be kinda business as usual. Nonetheless it's always fun having new news on the team.

It is definitely underwhelming and it's a player I actually like. It's not the player everyone is speculating about over the last few pages.

That is not to say that this player isn't part of a larger deal.

If nothing comes to fruition by next week I'll disclose the player and how I found out.

The only other bench players that can be traded aside from Flynn is Birch and Thad. Boucher just signed so I don’t think he can be trades. Precious is off the table unless its a crazy trade piece coming back. The rest are just guys we just signed or partials…

Player that I know about can be traded.
Player is not a starter.

I don't even know if this player was moved, what they could get in return. I would assume they would have to add more to match salaries.

OK, so went on Trade Machine, the only players that can be traded are:

Achiuwa
Young
Porter
Birch
Flynn
Banton

Based on this list:

Achiuwa - No, this would be a big trade + likely viewed as a core member of our youth movement.
Young - Mayyyybe, but seems unlikely. Plus he doesn't fit the 'I assume we would have to add more salary' comment - making $8MM.
Porter - No, we just signed him.. bad optics.
Birch - Likely candidate, But again doesn't fit the 'I assume we would have to add more salary' comment - making $6.7MM.
Flynn - Likely Candidate, but doesn't fit the 'not whom evryone is speculating on' comment. Everyone feels like Flynn is gone.
Banton - Mayyyybe, but seems unlikely.. feel like we love him too much. It better not be Banton!

Nobody else on our roster is tradable?

Edit - just double checked Trade Machine, and they allow any of the following players to be included in a deal: Dowtin, Harper Jr, Jackson, Champagnie, Wilson, Brown... weird that they can be traded without a guaranteed deal.

I'm now assuming its one of them.. yes, very uneventful, lol.. still curious to see for what.

Curious how can Porter be traded now when we just signed him this summer? I thought we have to wait until Dec to be able to trade summer signings. Thad can be traded cause he essentially got an extension I believe.

Yeah, I agree, weird. But on ESPN Trade MAchine, Porter is available to include in a trade whereas Boucher and Hermangomez are not? :dontknow:

Question for dgr81: was the player told specifically that the Raps were working on a trade, or just to be prepared that they might not be with Toronto much longer? Because if it's one of the deep bench guys like Champagnie, it's possible that he just won't have his contract guaranteed, rather than actually being part of a trade.

Doesn't inspire confidence when someone says "for the first time ever I have a solid source." LOL.

the players family member told someone that they see on a regular basis that they were told they might be leaving toronto soon.

it's not one of the deep bench guys.

This ‘trade’ should happen very soon then, otherwise someone may get cut for nothing…

Oh sheeet. Theboi gets the and 1 from the source.

Thad makes sense, in terms of how the contract was structured as an extension, so it’s tradable.

I like Thad.. makes the porter deal make a bit more sense in terms of having a backup vet.

I wonder for who? Spurs / Poetle still seems like a likely target.

Awesome but would Spurs want Thad back?

Great locker room vet whom Pop knows & trusts to help train the youngin’s and maintain a positive attitude as they super tank? I could see merit for the Spurs.

We add Flynn and some draft capital to be negotiated and it’s win win.

I still really like Thad though.. don’t mind keeping him. But Poetle obviously fits our timeline and needs much better.

Both Birch and Thad played last night, which would be unusual if they were about to be traded. Flynn is still out but apparently he is not the trade candidate. Deal probably fell through (if it even existed)

Still hoping against hope for this rumored trade to be announced, just for something new and exciting.
