Agreed. I pretty much rolled my eyes through it all and even audibly chuckled when he name dropped Lebron as his main example of not letting contract talks affect season..(uhhh what?)... which then led to a subliminal KD diss for no reason.

Whatever, doesn't change anything and kind of what I expected to be honest. Dray is who he is. And if the team can all get passed this he's still a major factor in getting the dubs to another Finals.

Is there a chance we hear some boos for him at Chase? A lot of fans are upset on various levels. I personally wouldn't boo him but I'm not standing up and cheering either.

I hope not. People can boo if they want to jeopardize the chance of a ring this season. It will be as stupid as Green yelling at KD in 2019.

Steph, the team, Kerr and Myers will figure it out and if it doesn’t work out, have him traded.

Booing him is the worst thing fans can do to this season. I hope they are smarter than Draymond.

Apparently the GMs who sign free agents do.

Do you think another team will offer him more than what his current contract is?

They might for one or two years, maybe a team option in year 3.

But I don't see him getting anything like 3 years $80 million or more fully guaranteed.

Certainly not 4 years fully guaranteed for $120 or even $110 million. His current deal was 4 years $100 million with fourth year a player option.

Think of teams which give out bad contracts or may think he could help them.

Do the Pistons give him at least 3 years $80 million fully guaranteed?

Do the Lakers?

Do the Trailblazers?

Do the Clippers?

Do the Heat?

Of these teams I believe only Pistons and Lakers are likely to have cap space after this season for that kind of contract.

Dray wont get a bigger contract because of age, not because he cant score.

Even in his earlier seasons he struggled to get the big contract.

He certainly could have waited a season before signing his current deal, probably test free agency. But he signed after making noises about how he had to give a discount on his second contract, which was 5 years $85 million.

So between his two big contracts, he didn't get as big a raise in AAV.

Because he always struggled to score and while he was DPOY once and several times All Defense, truth is defenders don't get paid unless they can do other things.

What's not going to help his cause with other teams is that they may not run the same defense and have him be the center of it. Nor do they have the off ball shooters the Warriors have, to make him effective on offense.

What's Draymong going to do, get a lot of assists to Lebron and Davis? No they will create shots off a couple of dribbles, they're not running the baseline for pin downs.

His $85M/5 wasn’t that far off from the max, and only the Warriors could give the 5th year.

I laugh when players like him mention “discount”. What discount? The team paid you more than any other team in the market could pay you.

If his “discount” meant he didn’t get the full 25% 5-yr max… oh well…. sure… haha.

Folks turning their back to the court when Draymond is announced might be another approach. Either way, folks are entirely free to passively display their displeasure with Draymond. And, if doing so is called "wrong" by some, I would far rather err on that side than meekly accept Team Draymond's "no harm no foul" position.

Myers to Draymond after Draymond tries again to get max extension after the season: “We’re not hanging onto the past”.

Team still needs him, at least in the regular season, as the stretch when he was out showed. Team was like a half dozen games over .500 in those weeks.

In all seriousness, it won't happen, but I'd kind of like the idea of just being silent during his introduction. Nothing actively hostile, but making it clear to him that it wasn't okay and nobody has forgotten.

I've always thought this would be particularly brutal in a hockey game. Guy gets introduced and the arena goes completely silent. The sound of his skates hitting the ice...

I just wish Draymond learned that being silent is sometimes warranted. Hearing him give his perspective and talking on behalf of Poole bothers me. Can't wait to hear from JP. He is icing Draymond out. lol

Initially, I thought there was hope for this to be a real learning moment for Draymond. Then, I heard Draymond's mother unapologetically back up him punching Poole. At that point, it became clear that Draymond is a lost cause. The irony is that everyone was concerned about Lamar Ball being a bad influence on his son. Lamar was and is loud. In many ways though, I would much rather have a player with a big mouth in his ear. It's the words you never hear that catch you the most by surprise.

Would have loved to see Lavar Ball’s response if Draymond put his paws on his son

Lavar would have tried to get it on pay per view.

Went to the restroom, came back and saw Poole lying on the court. My first thought was "Where is Draymond?" It's going to be this way all season long. :D

Somebody will be taking his job in a year or two. Maybe it’ll be Kuminga or not, but Draymond’s going to age worse than Westbrook.

Kuminga was playing the Wiggins/iguodala role when he was thriving as a 4 next to draymond. He really doesn’t do anything similar to draymond yet.

Both cant shoot.

But seriously, kuminga is alot more comfortable at the 4. No one is going to replace what dray brings, but he can bring something. His ability to facilitate is an interesting development.

The off ball defense will have to come from another slot like SF or C.

We shouldn’t be worried about what we lose on offense. That isn’t what makes Draymond special, it what we lose as a help defender. He’s our jjj, he just does it in a different way. That’s what we need to replace.
