I'm not gonna lie, I'm really surprised the team is not budging on this and it could seriously backfire on them. All the reporters seem to indicate (outside of Himmelsbach) that it seems like the Celtics won't budge at all

It’s not going to backfire lol. If he has a really good year, and shows growth off the dribble, they’ll pay him. And if he stalls where he’s at, they’ll get him for what they want.

Himmelsbach more connected than any of them, anyways.

The thing that scares me is this: let's say the Hornets get Wemby. They create a little cap space, and pay the hometown kid $20 mil to play next to him. And yes, we sadly all know from Hayward that MJ is that stupid lol

That's going to be tough to match

Grant has an even better case now. 4 years $56-58 million. Get it done.

I'm not sure if his case is better or worse. Clarke is around his level as a player, but Grant's skillset is more valuable in the playoffs

Anyway, I agree

IDK. Some people would argue Clarke is just as good (if not better) than Grant. So if Clarke got $13 mil, then Grant isn't gonna get more than that..(and Grant is asking for $14-$16 mil)..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I would take Grant Williams 100 times out of 100 over Clarke. G Williams brings more things to the table in the playoffs.

Leverage for Grant... obvciously KPJ is a very different player but i'm not sure he's that much better than Grant, especially taking into account intangibles

Still, KPJ is the rockets starting PG, which is a pretty important role..

He was actually coming on for a second there last year. Anyway, I think his market was definitely not impacting Grant's lol.

The ones I'm looking out for right now are:

De'Andre Hunter
Jaxson Hayes
Cam Johnson (I think he's getting one for sure)
PJ Washington
Grant (obviously)
Matisse Thybulle (I don't think he gets one)
Rui Hachimura (I don't think he gets one either)

From what I can tell, the RFA market is:

De'Andre Hunter
Cam Johnson
Grant Williams
PJ Washington
Matisse Thybulle
Coby White
Rui Hachimura
Jaxson Hayes
Darius Bazley
Cam Reddish

So the positive to me today is that guys like Hunter or Johnson didn't get extensions, because barring injury they're going to be way more sought after than Grant. But disappointed we couldn't get something done today.
