Game 1: 0-0 Magic @ 0-0 Pistons 7PM Wed Oct 19th
It's finally here. Opening night for the 22-23 season and we're hosting the Magic at LCA. 2021 #1 pick Cade Cunningham goes up against 2022 #1 pick Banchero.
Should be a great game.
Who are the Pistons going to start on opening night? Will it be Stewart matching up with Banchero?
Our last injury report has Bagley and Noel listed as out and Burks listed as "day to day".

Game is tomorrow but I'll be there at LCA cheering them on.

I don't bet on this Pistons team. Too many unknowns.

Livers out tonight. Hip.
* Bagley & Burks also out, but Noel is active.

This is a must win game, in the sense that it will send a clear messege to fans, especially ones that will go to games, that we are here to play some good basketball this year, so it's money well spent.
The team cannot drop their home opener, to a team that is further behind in their rebuild then Detroit.
That being said, I'm still holding out hope that sanity will rule the day, and Casey will start one of Noel/Duren at the 5, and allow Stewart to play the position he is best suited at, the 4.
If it's Stewart and Bojan up front, well, good luck.

Damn

I hate that Livers can’t seem to stay healthy.
Maybe he needs to live with Arnie Kander full time lol

It would be great to get the W, but this is a must lose game! Can't start the tank too early. We already had it rolling in the pre-season.

I will not go thru another season like last years. I'll abandon the team until they start winning. I'm not asking for much here, in that being bad, instead of horrendous.bstein14 wrote:zeebneeb wrote:This is a must win game, in the sense that it will send a clear messege to fans, especially ones that will go to games, that we are here to play some good basketball this year, so it's money well spent.

Wins come in all different forms, shapes and sizes. Seeing players develop is a bigger win for me than the standings.
I don’t expect the majority of this group to be here when the team is winning consistently so it will be hard to put team wins together. I’m super hopeful in general though.

Hey, im absolutely down with development, and watching Ivey go for 30 in a close-ish loss. Cade handing out 15 dimes, Stewart going 4-10 from three, and Duren grabbing 20 boards.GreekAlex wrote:zeebneeb wrote:I will not go thru another season like last years. No problem.
Won't I won't watch is Stewart playing the 5, stunting both Cade and Ivey on multiple different levels, and Bojan next to Bey, with neither of them playing defense. I will not watch the team go 5-23 with Duren playing limited minutes, Ivey playing 22mpg, while Corey Joseph plays 15mpg.
I will nope the hell out of that in a heartbeat.
My wildest expectations, with everything going perfect, and Casey playing lineups that make sense is 43 wins. There is about a .05% chance of that happening.
My modest, and attainable goal, is 31-33 wins. I believe that should be about right. If the team is only 2-3 wins better then last year, it will be clear something is wrong to me. You cannot add this many lottery picks, and still be rock bottom. No way, no how.
Man I hope they win tonight, because it's about the only one of two games, they should win out of the next 10 games.

I mean, you know that will be the lineup tonight. It's a virtual lock. Your issue will be how long Casey stubbornly sticks with it if it doesn't produce.

I always hold out hope, until it's dashed, but yes, I know that the lineup is going to be the one with no defense, or vertical threat, but I'm hoping for a quick substitution.flow wrote:zeebneeb wrote:This is a must win game, in the sense that it will send a clear messege to fans, especially ones that will go to games, that we are here to play some good basketball this year, so it's money well spent.

Can’t believe it’s a new season! Every year I convince myself we have a playoff caliber roster. Yes, even the days of Stuckey and Daye. If Cade and bey have taken the leaps I think they have, I think we get there!

By how long he sticks with it, I mean how many games will he stick with this as his starting 5. You know there won't be quick substitutions tonight. Casey doesn't do that. Starters stay in for at least 8 minutes before any substitutions.
If that starting lineup is as disappointing as you fear it will be, how many games before he juggles it? Will he wait til Bagley returns, or will he grant your wish and throw Duren in there. That's your countdown.

I'm hoping that somehow, some way, the Pistons are around 8-12 after the first 20 games. Looking at the schedule, one might think I'm on drugs, the hard stuff, but if players make a leap this season, it may be possible.ComboGuardCity wrote:Can’t believe it’s a new season! Stop destructing my hope. Casey can change. It's possible that he sees the light, and makes fast, fluid changes, getting ahead of the other coach.flow wrote:zeebneeb wrote:I always hold out hope, until it's dashed, but yes, I know that the lineup is going to be the one with no defense, or vertical threat, but I'm hoping for a quick substitution.flow wrote:

Unreal, Stew at the 5 with Bojan, we will get killed on the boards
