Nor do I see any reason why he should have only played 24 mins. 1st game and rotations still need to be figured out but that's an obvious one that Kidd needs to do better.
Coaches usually put their 2nd best player in at the end of the game.
Coaches usually put in the guy with the hot hands.
Kidd had a guy who was both of those things at the same time and he sat him for most of the game. I refuse to believe that a good coach would do this.

Embarassing loss against Lee and Payne. OMG what a shame.
McGee and Green were awful, Kidd was worse... How can Kleber play more minutes than Wood??? bull.
With Luka out we are very bad. Hope in Facu.

Green wasn't awful. He didn't shoot but he definitely had some impact on the floor with his activity and defense. McGee on the otherhand was 100% atrocious.

The team was -16 when Luka was on the floor. They played noticeably better without him on both sides. Did we watch the same game? Luka was overall bad, especially on defence which he didnt even try until the last 2-3 min.

Yes Luka wasn't good but without him we can't play, fortunately in the second half Wood makes 12 or 13 straight points playing iso game. The others can't score.
We miss badly Brunson in those situations... Or another ballhandler. But hey, we have Frank.

Wood on offense and Kleber and defense were the difference makers, and Luka had otherworldly 1st him and atrocious 2nd half, his worst minutes were after Dinwiddie was taken out.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

Re: RS 22/23 - Mavs @ Suns (Oct. 19, 10PM EST)
Give credit to the Suns. They switched up their defensive strategy in the 3rd. Blitzed Luka and played a lot of zone particularly when another ballhandler wasn't in the game with him. The way to beat that is for someone to drive to the hole when the ball swings side-to-side but none of THJ, Bullock, DFS or Maxi could do that. Or flash to the basket which Wood did do a few times. GSW did a very similar strategy in the WCF and it gave Luka trouble. It's something he needs to figure out and do better in.

Re: RS 22/23 - Mavs @ Suns (Oct. 19, 10PM EST)
Called it in the game thread. There is no substitute to playing games to get that stamina rolling to last a full game. Said we might lose it at halftime since we only played 3 preseason games and staryers barely played and that they probably were gonna run out of steam. Well, missing all those FTs dodnt help.
Lots of good to take from the game. Its a difficult schedule to start the season, 5-5 after 10 is acceptable imo. How many actually thought we were gonna win this game? We got blown out there like every time last 5 years except the game 7.

In the famous words of Luka, "If you don't believe, you shouldn't be here."
I absolutely thought we were gonna win this game and we should have.

Before the game? I thought we had a chance, but we always have that since we got luka. Ill admit my hopes were high when we were 20+, but as said, also called that they might run out of steam.

A classic regular season Mavs game from the 3rd quarter collapse to the horrible ft shooting.

Reminds me of games we would Lose when Carlisle was coach. I'm pissed @ him for Leaving but we mite have used Brunson's mental toughness out there to seal the victory. Suns tried to give us this game...

Brunson is gonna be ona team that prolly makes the playoffs barely or the play in tournament but he made his selfish decision, but we have to package THJ, Powell, Green, a # 1 & $ to get a bona-fide stud to put next to Luka when he comes available this year. He mite not be perfect but we're gonna need more(I know it's just 1 game but how do u lose that game ?)CP suxed & Crowder didn't play, smh.....

Yes, absolutely. Are there teams that scare me and make me think twice? Sure, but the Suns are not one of them, especially the current version.
Hopefully the team regroups and puts a hurt on the Grizzlies next game.

They would have never lost this game with Brunson. Luka needs second playmaker besides him, or teams will blitz him nonstop, which happened in Q3 because Dinwiddie was in foul trouble.
McGee looked exactly like who he's, backup C. And we have seen what mean pickup games for evaluating players. Green is the same player as last year, hype died quickly. The worst Mavs was Kidd.

If Wood shot 60% from the free throw line like he usually does and Damion Lee did not make a miracle shot that he had no reason to make we would all be happy and dancing. Nobody would mention Brunson.

Sure Mavs can win without Brunson, but in 82 games season they will miss him a lot. Yesterday Dinwiddie went out early in 3rd and everything felt apart. THJ is useful only if he's hot. Brunson was instrumental for situations, when Luka couldn't play his game. It was really a luxury to have another Pg most of the time playing with Luka.

He did show energy on D but that's not enough when you're a total nonthreat on O..with him on the flor it's 4 vs 5 and teams can easily double the Mavs
