If you **** with second round exits, you're gonna love this year's team like you loved last year's team. This is a great day for you, homie.

Our starting 5 are poor defenders. Need a wing with some size

But he's another guy that needs the ball in his hands when we already have Maxey and Harden, then we're (for whatever reason) letting Embiid create offense. If we replaced Tobias with a 3&D PF and just ran the PnR constantly with Embiid, we'd kill teams offensively.

That's something we've all been saying for the last couple of years, and it's pretty clear that Morey tried to move him this summer. Unsurprisingly, there were no takers. Just the most brutal free agent signing in that it has tied the hands of Morey and his ability to build out this team properly as well Glenn insisting on making him a central part of the scheme.

I know we haven’t liked Tobias for the past few years, but fit wasn’t really the issue. There is no “fit” if the offense is chaos and we are starved for creators. Tobias actually provided something we lacked despite being mediocre at creating.

I know it's beaten to death, but Tobias always finds away to get his 18-20 points without it being noticeable. None of his buckets are ever timely, in the clutch, or needed to put take air out of the opponents' runs. The space his contract takes up on this roster will always prevent us from making the next leap.

We have Joel Embiid & James Harden.

I'm not blaming Tobias. His contract is not the issue here. It's not ideal, but if you have two superstars + Maxey + Harris + all these role players, you should be good.

Problem is our superstars are both tier-2 guys.

I agree with you. Having Embiid, Harden, and even Maxey now should be enough to pick up the slack for Tobias in the sense of we'd be better constructed with 2-3 more affordable players who make more sense.

And I'm not here to say Tobias is the sole scapegoat. There is definitely an issue with coaching and Embiid, and the way the offense flows through him at times.

Van Gundy was saying at one point in the 4th quarter that Tobias had 14 in the 1st half and hadn't scored in the 2nd half as if it was surprising. I was thinking "welcome to our world".

I know it's kind of impossible for the national commentators to have a complete pulse on all 30 teams, but for being such a strong critic of Philadelphia, SVG should know that's been "the Tobias special" for 4 seasons now.

Just for game 1.

Team played worst on offense when Tobias is on the bench (114 ORtg), while the team plays best defense when Embiid is on the bench (100 ORtg).

I dont think Embiid played poorly on defense. But On Court the team had 15.8 TO% and off the court the team had 8 TO%. If he can cut his TOs, we could have prevented easy baskets.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I'd be lying if i said i wasn't massively disappointed by the Doc Rivers trans porn thing turning out to likely be hacking.

I thought this is it! He's gone!
But, no, another season of frustration ahead.

I honestly couldn't believe it.
Time stopped as it sunk in. How could it not be true...

Reminiscent of the Kawhi shot bouncing 4 times, then it's over. :x

Again "wing Embiid" and "transition Embiid," where he ill-advisedly fashions himself as a much smaller and quicker player.

This season's success will be all about whether Embiid can set aside his ego and play in the optimal role in relation to the players alongside him.

Note to self. Only come on to game threads when the 76ers win.

With so much going wrong in game 1 the 76ers only have one way to go which is up. Well up after they play the Bucks.
Doc now has lots of time to figure out what is not working and what is working. It was good to see Harden playing like Harden should play. Yo Doc what's up with Paul Reed ? Is he still be punished for last year playoffs play?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

It's so evident that the PnR is unstoppable with Harden/Maxey and Embiid. Especially Harden. The defense has to pick its poison and will likely get burned if the defense doesn't collapse.

One big development I want to see is Maxey developing a quicker trigger from 3. Celtics gave him an insane amount of space for a 40% 3pt shooter because they know his tendency is to attack close outs rather than fire from deep. I think his shot profile should look more like Eric Gordon where he’s putting up 8-10 threes per game.

I really like what I saw from Harden, gives me hope for the future. Jojo is out the blocks slow, but that should change.

I was really disappointed with our bench, and I was expecting a whole lot more but they were a bunch of nothing. Trezz looked like doo doo. That has to pick up tonight,

Don't want to be bad luck so someone else should make the game thread. Less then an hour before tip-off.
