PG: They scammed us out of a win

was calling for cam on ja all night in the 4th, it was the easiest adjustment to at least attempt to make without disrupting the crunch-time lineup. maybe it works, maybe it doesn't but we really needed to at least try and throw him a different look

I don't know how it is possible, but every coach the Knicks have had during this millenium has been very weak at making in-game adjustments. Thibs did better on some points last night than I think he usually does, but that was the key adjustment he did not make and it probably cost them the game.

RJ was very effective overall on Ja and his defense on Ja helped keep him quiet while the Knicks mounted a comeback.

I'm going to watch the game again. I didn't have a focused viewing last night. Your take is contrary to everyone else, but I'll watch again and see if my first take is correct. I saw Ja blow by him many times, but maybe I missed the rest.

For all we know, they could both be traded.

It seems pretty clear Thibs is trying harder to figure out how to incorporate IQ into the rotation, but the coach's bias doesn't mean the FO feels the same way about Obi or IQ as Thibs does.

I feel Obi has more value than IQ going forward, but that is all for naught if the coach won't play him

Cam is such a mercurial talent, it's maddening.

He looks like an elite talent in those game highlights. The length, the athleticism, the moves, the fluidity, he has a lot going for him, but you just can't rely on him.

In terms of pure talent he's up there with Rose and Randle. But the end product is rarely there.

That elite talent is why he should have been placed in the starting line up from day 1 and given ever opportunity to either sink or swim

Randle and RJ were 2 of the 10 most inefficient players relative to league-average in the last 40 years of NBA basketball. They were just awful last year. There's no other word for it.

I like Obi more but at this point we know that if he’s getting minutes it’s because Randle isn’t playing well. Might as well trade him. Get a create a player to back up Randle at this point.

Obi has no path to more minutes. Even last year when Julius would be having an awful game throwing tantrums and Obi was balling, hed maybe only get another 3 minutes.

The only paths for more minutes here are at one of the wing/off guard spots and center, which is why Cam and Hartenstein got more time. Brunson, RJ, and Julius are our Big Three (lol) while Fournier and Meech seem capped around 25 mpg. Thibs is not interested in Julius or Obi at the 5.

IQ is our most replaceable young guy. Hope he turns it around of course, but he’s also blocked from more minutes now that we have all these decent guards/wings. Grimes and Cam should be prioritized over him if hes not going to develop any PG skills.

Cam already played the 4 down the stretch over Obi. Its not gonna happen here for Obi or IQ, so dont be surprised if both are traded.

You have been around long enough to tell the difference between opinion and fact, Begley is giving his opinion. Sure it's based on the fact that the Knicks already paid guys like Randle, RJ, Brunson and Mitch so it stands to reason they might not be in a position to pay both Obi and IQ but it still is just his opinion.

IQ scored his first year. Since then he's gotten less and less effective at scoring, which is his thing. It's been 3-4 years now waiting on RJ and Obi and IQ (and Mitch) to turn the corner and manifesting 6 for 30 like last night doesn't cut it.

Celebrate the fact that some of knew he isn't going to be a superstar in this league (like Morant for example). He's a mid- upper-mid player. He has bounce and is not a good athlete. He got swatted several times with that patented drive to the basket. That's because he can't jump high enough to get over defenders (like Morant and DMitch can do).

Where are all the posters who were bashing anyone who has any skepticism about the future of RJ's career? Awfully quiet today.

And one game in a new season cements this?

Yea Quick does have a chance at the 2, like he did last year when he closed some games, but if Grimes and Cam are healthy and playing well then they’re going to suck up a lot of his minutes and shots going forward.

Grimes and Cam are just superior options as wings/SGs than Quick. They’re bigger and better fits. Quick is not a PG at all and his shooting is mediocre as a SG. Im lower on Quick than most though. I know he can catch fire sometimes, but so can Grimes and Cam.

Quick’s best bet is to take over for DRose when he retires or gets hurt, but he has no PG instincts at all and just wants to chuck it seems. You can find plenty of his types in the 2nd round or G League.
