the smoke has been brutal - hopefully that predicted rain hits on Friday and Saturday to put out the fires. I need it to by next week. I'm planning on climbing St. Helens and it would be nice for us to breathe easy.

My mushrooms also desire rain. They seem pretty confident it's coming. If nothing else, the winds shift should tamp down the smoke.

Awesome that you're climbing Helens. It was my last hurrah before my first was born. Are we outside of permit season?

Everything in the PNW is desiring rain right now. It's been pretty unbearable these past couple days.

nah, I'm just inside the last week or two of permit season. I've never done it so I'm pretty excited to bag it. I'm also through hiking the Enchantments that weekend. Did you enjoy hiking Helens?

See my addendum. The smoke has been hanging in the valleys.

Yes and no. I used rented mountaineering boots when I went and... wished I hadn't. Snowshoes would've been fine and saved my feet. It was a lovely climb with great people though. My climb was in February so there was still a lot of snow and we had to start from lower. It was a rare PNW day with only upper level clouds so we were able to see everything. About 30 degrees at summit. Perfect for a long day outdoors.

Very cool you snagged permits. I know they don't come easy.

that is really dope! Winter hikes are really fun and the solitude is amazing. Not many people enjoy throwing the necessary gear to brave the cold. I'm really interested in doing some snowshoeing this winter. I also want to get some legit crampons(I have some microspikes right now) and an iceaxe. but that gets a lil crazy as glacier crossing is intimidating af - also feels a lil bit reckless when I have mouths to feed.

I'm the same. Pro-snow, anti-glacier. They can melt afaic.

You're from the northeast originally, right? On a decent day, winter hiking here is just like a warm walk anywhere back east during the winter.

I just watched the every play version of the game. It was not RJ's night. Sorry, but his D was not up to par. He looked like a different player than the guy in pre-season, a whole step slower.

Not that concerned though. I've seen this from every player in the league. Some nights you're just completely out of sync. I still expect him to play well.

Plus as a team we got bullied. lol Refs let the Grizzlies get away with a butchery. Couldn't touch Morant early.

In seeing Brunson go out early RJ got caught in the rigs of the game and hopefully learned a lesson. Home teams are usually favored to win their first home game. It's good for the NBA.

Memphis was also packing the paint on defense. They were willing to give up some defense on the perimeter because they didn't fear our outside game. There were often 3-4 Grizzlies going for the board against Mitch.

Happy for you

Cam rewarded your faith in him tonight

Lol like I already said after preseason finale, I AIN'T even worried! Cream ALWAYS rises to the top !!

I'd honestly not been this excited about a talent since a raw Kobe in 1996. Imo he has PG13 physical tools (he may be actually longer than PG) and jump shots, a little bit of Kobe fundamentals with more fluidity on open court, and Kyrie flurry in-the-paint finishing creativity where he's seemingly always one counter-move ahead of defenders. And I haven't even talked about his passing (yes he's actually really good at slashing and kicking out or passing lobs or to cutters) and his defense.

Lol majority of you thought he's Scam Rubbish while I couldn't believe how soooo faar off we are... I am looking at Cam like Jerry West was looking at Kobe in 1996 damn!!! I still can't believe we got him for only Kevin Knox + 1st!! Pinch hard!!!

I hadn't collected NBA cards since Kobe RCs in 1996, this reminds me when all my school mates thought Kobe was just an unproven scrub, I scored many many Kobe cards from them for cheap, while they're collecting their "proven stars" GHill, Penny, MJ, Pippen cards. I got many many Cam cards in the off season!

The problem with raw talent is you have to spot them in limited minutes. Most people will only believe it when they see it, but that's the easy route and everybody can do it! If you wanna be an excellent talent evaluator you have to see it when you believe it!

---

This all said, it's only 1 game... and knock on woods barring injuries, he'll be our 23ppg, 8rpg, 4apg, 2 spg franchise player ahead of RJ, nothing against RJ, who I think will bounce back in next game and have a borderline All Star season, but that's not surefire All Star Cam is imo.

For sure, if he can keep doing this he would be a difference maker. His highlight reel from the game is definitely eye popping. His natural talent is truly immense.

The good thing is Thibs will play him now after this because he does the one thing Thibs truly craves which is break down defenses and score. And that means Cam has his shot now. I hope he capitalizes on it.

It all comes into view now.

My wife and I were just talking about this winter hike we did back east where we got caught in a blizzard at the summit and it was so. ****. Cold. Or like weeks out of the year where the wind just whips down the avenues. Granted there are some wicked mountain storms out here to be avoided at all costs... but we've forgotten what real cold is. It's a good thing.

People fret about the Knicks taking Frank over Donovan, Obi over Hali, Knox over anyone else and my personal one is a euro who will never play a game in a Knicks uni over Ayo but the one that will haunt them for a long time is taking Sims over Aldama.

I was just reading the other day how mount Washington has some of the most extreme weather. I was really shocked that a 6k foot peak in NH had such famously tough weather.

Do you have any adventures planned?

If this performance is evidence that Cam has finally “arrived”, then that’s the key takeaway from this game imo. I really hope that he has newfound confidence in himself and can continue to build off of this.

Super late to sharing this, but I was pretty exhausted yesterday

It's just one game and the good thing is that they forced a high caliber opponent into OT with RJ playing arguably his worst game as a Knick since his rookie year. But the bad news is RJ had that bad of a game and the chemistry for the bench still looked off...also Rose is still logging under 15 mins which I didn't expect once the games started to matter. He didn't have much going in this one anyway, but I'm a bit surprised.

it's early to say this but rose looks kind of cooked. maybe he got old. it happens quickly to guys sometimes. could be he just hasn't played in a long time but the weight loss was supposed to make him quicker and he seems slower.

Yeah, it's looking a bit like father time caught him worse than the Lebron commercial. But it's early, so maybe he's just gotta readjust to game speed and playing off the ball more. For us much crap as we give Thibs, he's let IQ run the offense more through preseason and that first game (for better or for worse).

That's a nice recap.

Yeah Rose is the most unsettling thing for me especially after we were hearing about how great he felt and that he hasn't felt this good in a long time. Now it could be that they are trying to not take any chances and ease him back but then again we're talking Thibs here. If there's anyone that he's not going to put on the back burner it's Derrick Rose. So unless he's being forced by the FO to not overload Rose right away it's hard to not have a sneaky feeling that something is not right with Rose and that he's not in as great a situation as we may be thinking he is.

As far as Reddish goes? He was basically Alonzo Trier-ing but with much better defense. Am I making sense?

Rose seems pretty diligent about taking care of himself, in spite of the fact he gained weight.

I wonder if he tweaked his workout to lose weight but didn't strength train his legs the same way and now he's "off"

He just seems to lack a little quickness and lift on his jumper, and again, I'm wondering if emphasizing weight loss over some other kind of training he does has him off right now, but in about 2 or 3 weeks he'll have him legs back.

We shall see.

Knicks should bring over the euro PG next year anyway, as Rose is never to be counted on to be healthy and IQ flat out sucks at playing the point.

I think Rose is on a minutes cap - but as part of an overall strategy and not because he's hurt. Just a guess.
So when Brunson got an early foul, Thibs subbed in IQ at PG for a few minutes before bringing in Rose, to keep Rose at his slotted substitution times.

That's cute.

Acting like Aldama would ever even dress under Thibs. He'd rack up DNP's while Obi would of won ROTY on another team.

Or like weeks out of the year where the wind just whips down the avenues. Granted there are some wicked mountain storms out here to be avoided at all costs... but we've forgotten what real cold is. It's a good thing.

I was just reading the other day how mount Washington has some of the most extreme weather. I was really shocked that a 6k foot peak in NH had such famously tough weather.

Do you have any adventures planned?

What a difference a daaayyyyyy makes! Breathe the air, Guano!!!

Yeah, we were in the White Mtns in New Hampshire when that happened on a much smaller peak. White out conditions started right as we hit the summit and it was a bit of an adventure finding the trail back because the last few hundred feet or so were bare ground. But we did, and then the wind and snow calmed down and it was lovely again. You can hit bad news in a hurry in winter up there for sure.

It was pretty harrowing

I have not. But I imagine it was like what we did only substantially moreso
