I hope this is Magic helping him out. Hopefully he can get a two-way and contribute on this Laker’s team that desperately need shooters.

I 100% expect this to be the case and good on them.
I wish the best for him. He deserves his shot.

Just to be clear, this is a G-League trade and has nothing to do with the NBA team for either organization.

Re: Magic trade G Devin Cannady's G-League Rights to Los Angeles
The Lakers are a sh*t show. Honestly if I were them I'd probably blow it up. Not sure what the market would look like for Lebron and AD, but they might miss the playoffs again with 2 of top 10 players in the league. Everyone talks about finding a bad team for Westbrook...seems like he is already on that team.
Of course if they blew it up it would require a competent GM to do a rebuild. Which seems like they also lack. Pelinka is stealing the twilight years from one of the all-time greats from every NBA fan. And I realize that Lebron is somewhat culpable in the Westbrook disaster, but that is the GMs job....anybody, let alone an NBA GM, should have seen what was coming. The Lakers needed 3 and D players, and instead they went all in on moves like westbrook (no 3 no d), Schroeder, and Horton-Tucker. Pathetic. We should all start a class action lawsuit against the Lakers for gross negligence against the sport of basketball.
Seems like Cannady is on a path to coaching, the Lakers would be better off just using him as their GM.

After we get Wemby? Sure

I kid but it would be nice to play well and luck into the #1 pick this year.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

They won't rebuild
They will parade Lebron for his last couple of years and had him retire there as it's in their mutal best interest.
Lakers know they won't win title any time soon, or until new superstar decides to walk ( somebody like Jokic, Luka, Giannis). In mean time "Lebron in LA" is best for business.
It's part of Lakers MO that dates back in 1981 when Buss signed Magic on 25 years contract.
It's same behavior that held Kobe for his farewell tour.
They don't do it because of compeating for title, they do it for PR reasons and bragging rights, ability to market themselfs ( and that player) as "their legacy" and still make s*** loud of money off them even when they retire.
When Lebron landed to LA guess who was part of recrutiment team? Magic and Kobe.
Why this is best for business? Well, when Kobe retired Lakers retired in 2017 number #8 and number #24. On that same day, in single day, AEG reported that they sold in one day $824K worth merch from Kobe. All that before he died , and when tragedy striked, again it was Lakers that profited. This year they sold his rookie jersey for near $3M.
So yea, from basketball POV ,that team is disaster. But Lebron is going nowhere. Lakers won't win any titles with or without him in next several years. and for them it's fine, they won ring in 2009, 2010, and 2020.
What Lakers could do is to trade Westbrook to make product more watchable, should have take Bojan Bogdanovic when they had chance or Hield. But whatever.

I realize they won't rebuild but it is criminal what the Lakers have surrounded Davis and Lebron with. I'd argue that half this board could have built a better team....and that it is saying something. Actually i am not sure anyone could have built a worse team the amount of money available to the lakers..

And most hilarious part is that it was Lebron and his fake player's agency that built that team.
Before Westbrook got there, they had secret meeting in Westbrook's house to "plot" superteam

I believe there is a limit in how much cash you can trade for each year not sure if the draft is part of the 22-23 season or the last.
