Still happy to see Wall playing though. He didn't deserve the last few years.

Wall was pretty mediocre. He hit some shots early, but missed everything late. Finished with 15 points and 3 assists in 25 minutes, which seems nice, but he also had 3 turnovers and posted a TS% of.460. This is the concern with him. He was never that efficient to begin with, so any slide in his efficiency at age 32 will drop him to a downright negative impact, even if he is fully healthy.
It was good to see him moving well though. I wish him all the best.
I actually think his jumper looked alright aside from everything he took from 3 point range. He was 3 of 5 from mid range and 3/4 from close range. But 0-4 from 3 point range plus only shooting 1 of 3 from the free throw line. I think the bigger thing was that his transition defense is still a work in progress- I believe he gambled for a steal and then LeBron took it coast to coast for a slam.
His effective field goal percentage at 46% last night was basically at his career average.

Yes, but for most of the good years in his career, he lived at the free throw line. A 46% eFG is not good at all if you don't get to the line.

I thought he didn't get to the line either but he got there 3 times, but made 1 of 3 - Wall for his career only got to the line 5.5 times in 32 minutes - so 3 times in 25 minutes isn't that far off from what he usually does. I'm guessing he eventually shoots closer to 70 to 80% from the free throw line, assuming he doesn't pull a Westbrook. I don't think 67% from mid range is sustainable but he has to eventually knock down 3s at a higher rate of 0% - usually he's closer to 30% even with Houston.

Wall's shot selection in the 2nd half wasn't good. I think he will thrive with the shooters like Morris, Batum, Kennard, Powell on the floor. And he only gets by dudes by using his size and strength now.
In the open court, he definitely still has jets.
When Kawhi and PG13 are on the floor, Wall playing off two ISO-heavy guys was very interesting to watch. It was ugly.

Mathurin might be ROTY. He looks like a superstar in the making.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

The Jazz had a fire sale on players and end-up being the hottest team in the West currently beating: Denver, NO, & Minny.

Markkanen has been going off! The guy is averaging 24, 10 and 4 on a TS% of .614. There just wasn't room for him on that Cleveland squad. He is blowing up now that he has a regular role at his natural position.

He is a super talented basketball player. You can see that every time he plays with his national team. The main concern with him is availability due to injuries.

They've been playing Jared Vanderbelt as a small ball 5. And the other piece from Minnesota, rookie Walker Kessler has played well too.

*Sigh* 22nd pick and playing 20 minutes a night right out the gate, why can't we have ever hit on a player like this

The answer to that is simple: because "we" don't ever listen to CCJ, or Ruzious, or Dat2U, ...or even to me.
If we'd drafted based on a consensus of us 4 in 2018, we'd have taken either Robert Williams or Mitchell Robinson & then DeAnthony Melton (or Jared Vanderbilt...?) in R2.
If "we" had done that in '19, we'd have traded down w/ Boston & come away with Brandon Clarke, Keldon Johnson (or Matisse Thybulle or Grant Williams) & likely Daniel Gafford too (important, b/c we wouldn't have TB Jr to trade for him).
If "we" had done that in 2020, we'd have a) taken Boston's offer of a late R1 pick for Bertans & b) come away with Tyrese Halliburton (at least on Dat, Ruz, & others' view), Desmond Bane, & Tre Jones.
If "we" had done that in 2021, we'd have taken Trey Murphy, Jr. & (probably) Isaiah Jackson (at 22). Or, if we'd gone ahead w/ the inane trade of #22, we'd have moved 31 to OKC for 34 & 36 & gotten Herb Jones & Ayo Dosunmu in addition to Murphy.
&, finally, if "we" had done that in '22, we'd have been quite likely to come away with Tari Eason, TyTy Washington, possibly Kennedy Chandler, Kenneth Lofton Jr., Keon Ellis, & at least one future R2 pick.
Let me list all of the guys we could -- indeed should -- have:
Robert Williams
DeAnthony Melton
Brandon Clarke
Keldon Johnson
Daniel Gafford (by pick not trade -- since we wouldn't have had Jr. to trade for him)
Tyrese Halliburton
Desmond Bane
Tre Jones
maybe KMart Jr
Trey Murphy Jr.
Isaiah Jackson (or both Herb Jones & Ayo Dosunmu)
Tari Eason
TyTy Washington
possibly Kennedy Chandler
Kenneth Lofton Jr.
Keon Ellis
an extra future R2 pick.
But... "we" didn't folllow a course anything like that. & so we came away with:
Daniel Gafford (i.e. by picking Brown & later trading him for Gaff)
Rui Hachimura
Deni Avdija
Corey Kispert
Isaiah Todd
Johnny Davis
But of course only a foolish person would try to learn from experience. Better just to forge ahead, so "we" can be prepared to make the exact same mistaken over again next year. Right?
Does that answer your question?

The other item of note tonight is that Ben Simmons stinks.

Walker Kessler along with Tari Eason were the picks That I had hoped Washington might select.
Kelly Olynyk has been playing very well for Utah as well.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

We have discussed Utah already, it's early yet, but they smashed Memphis last night and they are 6-2, what will become of their tanking plans?

Turd could have hired a real proven GM like Ainge, but he cheapened out and went with Tommy. Remember that Masai turned him down and Tim Connolly (DC native) turned him down. No one wants to be associated with this loser organization and Turd.
