There is no outright best coach. But Spo no doubt is in the top tier of coaches along side Tyronn Lue and Steve Kerr. No one was saying Kerr was an ass coach the season they were in the lottery. They just had a bad roster and injuries that year.
This roster has a clear hole at the 4. Yurt is hurt and Jovic isn't ready to be a starter. This is more on the FO than anything. They spent summer chasing KD and didn't replace PJ.
I'm sure they know that. But the conundrum is do they go for a trade now and waste a 1st round pick or wait till the trade deadline when there will be better players and more value for our picks. We have limited picks and assets so we just can't do any trade.
But the hole at the 4 was obvious after PJ left for Sixers, they should have addressed it.
But its 2 games, they will still make the playoffs probably as 5th or 6th. But its matter of if they can survive till the deadline to make a move. If it continues to get worse, I can see them bite the bullet and trade a 1st rounder for a Crowder. I think best move is to wait but results may force them to make a trade asap
Spo could make it easier on himself if he wasn't making these stupid lineup decisions.
The other options from Caleb are Highsmith, Jovic and Yurt. Yurt is hurt. Highsmith is not good. I think he should give Jovic a shot from the bench, but Jovic for sure will get torched defensively. The main issue is not replacing PJ with someone who can actually play the 4 position. There isn't an adequate answer for this issue from the roster unless Jovic can learn NBA defense in a matter of weeks
