Because players play basketball.

Just insure the guy properly, and play.

How do you insure what will probably be $500m+ in career earnings?!

I’d have this guy walking around in bubble wrap and a vest.

You can't do that. You can insure him for his first contract, also, I am sure he is alos negotiating endorsements already and getting advances.

Players play.

Also, hoops aint football. How many career ending injuries happen in hoops?

Which teams would be the worst spots for Wembanyama?

Post#143 » by Else_where » Fri Oct 21, 2022 6:40 pm

Immediately Detroit comes to mind. I am a Warriors fan but for the sake of basketball, I hope the kid is drafted by the Spurs.

I don't think it matters. His talent is so great it's going to transcend fit issues. He may not win a title if he goes to a franchise that can't surround him with pieces early in his career but he's going to be an incredible player regardless.

Why Detroit would be bad? They have a good thing going over there

Who was the last foreign player who enjoyed the city and playing there?

Who was the last high quality foreign player that enjoyed the city and playing there? Jury is still out on Bogdanovic, though I'm pretty sure he isn't thrilled after spending many years on playoff teams. Then before that it was...Datome? Thon Maker? Svi? Pachulia? And

I've never heard any complaints by those guys regarding detroit. Even in the interview Datome and Melli did this summer they never complained about cities.

That said, I'm sure there are prettier cities in the states than Detroit.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

lol...and how would the Lakers ever get him?

Pelicans get a pick swap with the Lakers and if the Lakers end up with #1 pick...Wemby goes to New Orleans. lol

The Lakers wouldn't get him, but their pick would

I don't think that I've ever heard about international players complaining about a city, unless the fans of that city were particularly ****/critical against them.

Some pretty insane highlights tonight:

All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

These posts are nice in a vacuum, but when the inevitable injury comes like with Zion, all the let them play talk stops. He'll learn more playing in the NBA than he will in the minors. What's most-important for him is health, and I think strength training is an essential part of that for someone like him. He needs bulk, and running the floor won't add that. I'd have this guy on HGH and 2adays up until the drug testing starts. Get at many lbs on him as possible in that time, ideally all in his legs.

Adding too much bulk too quickly has a higher injury risk than playing in a handful of games will. Particularly in modern basketball, where raw strength really isn't that important and in many cases will only serve to hamper a players movement, you have to be smart about lifting.

My modern day Bill Russell take stands. His rim protection is legendary. I am so disappointed he is not playing in the Euroleague, but it is getting obvious why he wanted to leave ASVEL, his game is so much more dynamic nowadays, he still takes too many needlesly difficult long range shots i think, but it is sarting to fall, so maybe he is just one of those guys, which he is starting to look like. The guy who bet 100 bucks that this guy wont be number 1 pick, lol man, what the hell were you thinking?

Those 7 footers are really funny
There's a video of Anthony Davis sitting down and VW coming to shake his hand, but there were some other people sitting in between, so they both kinda reached over them and shook hands from about 10 feet away from each other LOL

Internationals generally stay put where they're drafted if their team doesn't trade them, think Hakeem, Yao, Dirk, Manu, Giannis etc. That obsession with LA, that's an American thing.

I always shake my head when Americans say Detroit or smth like that is small and crappy market, dude, in comparison, every city with an NBA team in America is a huge metropolis. Wembanyama playing in a town with 66K population, it might not even have mall or theater, but yeah, hes gonna find Detoit unlivable?
