He seems ok for now. I'd like to see what he could do with a talented and healthy team. Seems the expectations on him around here are way too unrealistic at the moment. It is always the easiest thing to do to blame the coach after all.

Yeah. I like his rotation. Good communicator, everyone plays hard. Except Bamba who is a lost cause.

His rotation can get better but with all the injuries, how much better can it be?

I like the tall lineup with the zone defense, he doesnt really care about innovating. That’s all you can ask for especially if we’re tanking.

Tonight Bol got rewarded more minutes for his great play. Love it.

You could see his rotations are giving minutes to younger players and seeing them grow. He doesnt have a short leash either. And we aren’t trying to win.

Priority is to develop players. And we saw him give the Bambol frontcourt a chance. Tonight, there was less Bambol tandem. And the first few games he would leave franz alone with the second lineup. Now he made franz and banchero run the show more with the second unit.

Franz’ passive-aggressive isnt to be blamed on him imo. Franz is simply a willing passer, sometimes to a fault.

I'm only basing off highlights, but i notice a lack of defensive intensity compared to last year (Bol excl), total disregard for rebounding and an offense that - over both seasons - has never really evolved past a DHO and maybe at most a second pass before a basket attempt.

Needless to say, I'm underwhelmed. Seems a good guy, could well be good at teaching fundamentals. But we don't appear to have anything special - or even league-average - in Mosely.

There is only so much i can blame the coach....he can't make the shots for the players......however scheme-wise? he leaves quite a bit to be desired.....offensively everything seems so hard for us.....dribble handoffs....pick and roll....that's pretty much our offense....then when that breaks down our guys just dribble the air out the ball and throw up some BS.....we have some "read and react" offense trying to turn guys into decision makers according to mose....i'd rather we have an scheme based offense where players know what they're supposed to do.....most of our guys don't have the IQ to run a "read and react" system so it'd be better to just put them on rails and sort of "automate" certain parts of the offense....there are ways to create easy looks with just ball movement on ball and off and setting good screens....I think getting a PG that can run an offense could help some

Oh well...

He isn't tasked or asked to win, but we also have situation where President of basketball operations handpicks starters half of a year before season opener so we get full picture about how much team values him.

I wish he'd give up on having Franz run substantial minutes at the point. He's already worn down from FIBA. Tired players get soft tissue injuries easier.

I like Mose. He seems like a nice guy and a relatable player's coach, but...seeing NO offensive creativity or meaningful ball movement. Just "Give the ball to Jordan" (but we don't have Jordan)...maybe it's compounded by nobody being able to hit even open 3's, but it's pretty ugly.

This is still an ultra young team that will be TO prone and make many bone-headed defensive plays. It is Coach's job to teach more than win.

Bamba has been so bad he is actively losing games for Orlando. I never thought HE would be the tank commander (Anthony looked locked in for that job).

fateis007 wrote:Yes, he is pretty dreadful. He is not really strong in any area. Going by all of last year and this year.

I know he's only a second year coach, and we have a ton of injuries. But we have seen plenty of hurt teams still play good offense/defense.

It mostly seems like his offense/defensive sets are easily exploited and any time a team clamps down, or gets aggressive, we fold. And he likes to make strange substitutions. When you have 4, 7 footers on the floor at the same time, and you aren't even trying to get the to crash the glass. Like what is your goal here?

It's Paolo's first year, so I am sure hes willing to take the tank ride with us, but I am almost certain we will need a new coach to placate him, as no one wants to play for a perennial loser.

But he seems to keep the moral high, which is good for a young team and overall seems pretty pleasant. But I am sure if we had a tier 1 coach, we arent 0-4 right now.

its very young season and only a couple of games into his 2nd year. sometimes though, coaches are better asst's than head coaches. We see it all the time in the NFL, great OC or DC, but bad head coach. I would want to see more improvement in game decisions this year if i was in the front office.

It’s just not fair to say one way or the other yet. Had Mosley replaced Carlisle in Dallas, we’d know much better what his coaching ability was really like because he’d have a win now team and so his strengths or shortcomings would be magnified.

But here? Where the organization clearly would prefer to see losses to wins, it’s not really fair for Mosley to be judged on all the losing yet.

Now if they go out and spend all their cap space this upcoming summer and make an aggressive consolidation trade and still aren’t good? Then absolutely Mosley is fired.

Not at all. Typical reaction is to blame the coach when your expectation were too high to begin with. The roster isn't good. The guard play is beyond terrible when every winning team pretty much has strong guard play. His best player is probably Paolo and he is a teenager who is still learning.

This. Our guard rotation right now is absolutely awful, we have bad shooters, and our best players are two players in which one is a 19 year old who while very talented has a lot of development to do and the other a 21 year old that's 21 and being forced to do too much because our guards are extremely limited and injured all the time. In his first year as coach management was tanking. We really don't know what kind of coach he is but I will say this I like him much better than Jacque.

The old adage of a team needs to learn not to beat itself first before becoming a good team rings true in this thread and on this topic.

Only so much a coach can control on the floor and who is available to put on the floor
