This is really a bigger deal than people even realize. These type of f'ck ups potentially set franchises back for years. They're locked up with cap and still owe high draft pick to NYK. Too many bad players locked for multiple years and Wood will demand Brunson money if he continues to play like this. All in all, doesn't look good unless DFS/Bullock get back to form.

Wood is averaging 24/9 with crazy 72.7 efg% in only 26 minutes. If he continues like this and play more, he will be max. player. Not very likely, but Mavs not using his fantastic form to win games is really discouraging. I have a feeling that Mavs will pump Wood's and Dinwiddie's value in stratosphere, basically killing themselfs.

Just like Brunson

Some of it is how the defense is playing the Mavs.

Bullocks 3PA are down slightly and DFS are basically in half in the 3 game sample size. Offense was designed to have the D cave at certain points to allow for wide open 3s from those 2. Right now that's not happening forcing Luka/Spencer carry too much of the load cuz the others cant create.

Yes,THJ or Bertans would've applied pressure on NOP defense, and Frank would've given extra defensive option.

Luka is one of the worst clutch players in the NBA in terms of eFG% so...

You cant expect him to be hitting those game winners with any kind of good % especially when everyone knows what he will do. In fact it would probably be better if they tried someone else.

Where do you get that? I don't mean to be sarcastic or attacking you, but I'm genuinely interested in stats. These are hard to find, but what I've been able to dig up (I'm not sure they are correct), his TS in the clutch (last 5 min less than 5 points difference) last season was 57.2. In comparison, Giannis's was 60.2, Jokić's 59.8. Best was Booker at 70. Morant, Harden, Durant, Tatum, Irving, Curry, all had lower TS than Doncic in the clutch...

Agree. THJ and Bertans are real shooters, they can run through the block and make 3/4 triples in a row and build a lead.

The fascination this board has with guys who might play 10 mins is unreal. Him wanting to be here has nothing to do with the team wanting him. No contenders were interested in him which should tell you all you need to know.

Roddy B could drop 20 in a pickup game and people would be like "I cant believe we let him go!!!"

I don't see neither contender wanting Pinson, Facu or Frank

DSJ could be a good backup 3th ballhandler in our situation. Nothing more. But we love him for his past days here.
Again I'm not saying those guys are good and they aren't going to get many minutes. Acting like DSJ is superior to the others listed is hilarious.

If DSJ was here over any of those 3 how many extra games do they win? 0-2 would be my guess.

Oh well, and with DSJ instead Frank/Josh or Pinson we would not have lost those 2 games.
At least he isn't injuried and he can shoots

He improved drastically this offseason and has more confidence, changed his shot a bit aswell. Right now he's shooting 71% from 3, 51% from 2 and has 66% TS% at 13ppg/4apg/2stls/1blk.

Obviously all these numbers are not sustainable but still....
....gives you an idea why me and Mavs reddit wanted to give him a 2nd chance instead of other unplayable scrubs that Mavs have right now.

Fun fact. He's being paid less than Frank.

Those numbers are good for 3 games like you said , but he's about a career 40% field and 30% from deep which is brutal.

14-3-11 tonight against the Knicks... Not bad.

I continue to think that he would help us (like Dragic of course) more than some scrubs in our bench.

I watched it from the mid-3rd quarter onward.

DSJ played well, He helped to keep the team composed. Made some nice passes, a couple of them came once he got his man beat for the easy dump-off. He got 11 assists with only 1 turnover... pretty impressive.

The big knock on him was his defense and he was being targeted. In fairness the Hornet's were attacking Brunson just as much.

DSJ, the point guard, gets unlocked when you rely on him as your primary offensive weapon to break down the defense by getting in the paint. I think a free-flowing offense suits him better than an iso-heavy offense like we have.
Psychotic. It didn’t make sense. I don’t know how you make it make sense

I thought he played pretty decent.

Was reading the D well and hit the far side corner 3 man several times. The 3 ball still isn't there and like you said they targeted him on D. Rose got him a few times.

DSJ was a gamble, but Dragic was pretty sure thing and is in Bulls doing exactly what Mavs need, 8.6/4.2 in 17 minutes. +21 Netrtg.
