To early?

I can't wait for the day we trade him, and it's not just about this game or the playoffs, I just hate 90% of his decisions and his lack of ability to go by anybody in this league. He's an amazing shooter but to me he is just that.

KAT is an unbelievably efficient scorer. How many players shoot his percent from the Field, 3 and FTs. Very few. Ridiculous overreaction to one stupid loss. By the way Utah annihilated Denver and is in OT with New Orleans tonight.

As I said it's not about one game, nor about the past playoffs. I do not like 90% of his decisions and execution. No defense, no court vision, low IQ, cannot get by almost anyone and therefore perennial TO machine. Great shooter and that's what he should be. Don't have him dribble, post up, try to create. And of course dont pay him all that money.

The guy dropped 60 last year. He drove more than any other C and maintained his efficiency. He averaged 1 steal and 1 block last year and his assists were still above his TO rate (though he turns it over too much, not gonna dispute it.) Is his game perfect? Of course not. But, he is already passing out of double teams better, and he is a willing passer (sometimes too willing.) To say he has no court vision or no BBIQ is to undervalue what he does. You also don’t factor in how he completely reshapes the defense around him. He makes life so much easier for Ant, Dlo, and anyone else he shares the floor with. KAT is a multi time all star and 3rd team NBA center for a reason. Also can you tell me he doesn’t take a ton of contact when driving? Embiid and Jokic both get protection from the refs and a ton of whistles. KAT doesn’t yet still performs near their level. He is worth the money.

I don't like him. Loved the pick, was afraid we're gonna draft Jahlil. He was talking the right things, he was showing lots of potential, I believed in him for so many years. Never developed the way I imagined, I'm cringing so hard every time he has the ball inside the 3pt line. Every shot he makes and every succesful drive, I'm happy for the team, but I feel it was lucky. Remember the iconic post-up vs a hands-behind-his-back Demarcus Cousins? I hoped it was an accident, he bulked up over the years and I hoped things will change. On almost every moving contact he falls to the ground, be it drives or rebounds or whatever. He is soft, albeit one who clearly wants to improve in every aspect, I am giving him that. I still hate Butler for the way he managed his exit from Minnesota, but he had a point. Wiggins exclaims in his 8th or 9th pro year "wow i never knew how easy it was to rebound, i will do it more often" and clumsy Towns still runs like a headless chicken and can't move any of the guys his size not even an inch. All his behind the back and over the head passes are painful to watch, even the ones who reach their target. Add the constant whining and its just too much for me. And I dont buy the "refs hate us and thats why they call the offensive fouls on him and the beating he gets would make anyone fall every time". And I'm in no way a fan of Embiid but i won't comment on his game since i only watch him playing the Wolves. So hey, sorry for having offboarded his wagon long ago, I still wish the best since we have so much invested in him.

I'm not sure this belongs in this thread. I don't post much but I watch every game for like 20 years and it just added up. I saw the OP mention of a trade and I just had to let it out.

That is one way to look at it. Another is that KAT is an extremely skilled offensive player who opens things up for everyone he plays with. His defense is bad in schemes like drop, but when given high wall it improves. Some say he cannot be #1 on a title team, but guess what, Rudy is #1 and hopefully Ant becomes #2. You can say KAT isn’t worth the money, but like m2002 said, there aren’t that many C’s who can take over a game. We happen to have one of the best. The question doesn’t have to be how good is Towns, the question should be how does Towns play with Ant, Rudy, and everyone else? He is a willing passer, an efficient shooter, and improving defender. Does he have flaws, of course he does. But find me a guy who can drop 40-60 in any given game making consistently less than 30 million and we can talk.

Another great game from KAT tonight, but I'm sure you'll find fault with it. He didn't get enough rebounds OMG.

No, you get me wrong, I'm obviously not saying he is a bad player, I just don't like the way he plays the game. Last night he had 9 of his attempts from outside the paint, and just 5 inside. Way to go, KAT! I thought about it more after my rant yesterday and I found another extremely good basketball player who moves awkardly and can't overpower anybody, also not a good passer nor a good defender. He won MVP and a chip, I made it super easy to guess now :D KAT can thrive in that role, my eyes bleed watching him try some stuff he's just not good at. Personal preference.

Two things. First, while I don’t agree with all of your opinion, I was happy to read it. The NBA is about entertainment, and we all have different tastes, and that’s cool. KAT does have plenty of habits that I also find very annoying, particularly complaining about every foul and the way he expresses the giant chip on his shoulder. I appreciate you expressing this opinion.

Second, maybe I can relieve a little of your anxiety that when his shots go in, it was lucky. Towns is 6th in the NBA ALL TIME (right behind Steph Curry!), in true shooting percentage for his career, at TS% .6233. He is closing in on having taken 8000 shots. I agree he looks awkward sometimes when he makes a shot, but with nearly 8000 attempts, nobody has that much luck.

I have no idea who the MVP you speak of is. Dirk?

Yes, Dirk. KAT is a phenomenal shooter (thanks shrink), he's just not a center. And I can enjoy a lot of center types, myself i'm the Jokic type, but I can love a Pekovic, a Shaq, Gasol, etc. KAT can play Dirk and do it to perfection, surpass him, earn MVP, chips, max contracts and HOF legacy. I will root for him! (as long as he's a Timberwolf). But he shows no sign of getting into that role and I'm not enjoying (big parts of) his current game. I watch the games now with a focus on Ant and Nowell. I was happy for the big trade because it brought us a true center.

I guess I actually did have a clue because I got it right. KAT, Rudy, Ant are all basketball players. I don't care about the positions. I would rank them in order of best player Rudy, KAT a very close 2nd and Ant 3rd. I like watching all of them play as well as the rest of the Wolves and I don't particularly focus on anybody. Just a little on Rudy since he's new.
