Probably my least favorite Celtic tbh mostly personality wise though. So if we have him cool if we don't cool.

"Recklessly". So they're not exactly accusing him of doing it on purpose.

Hmm. PJ Tucker and Jae Crowder have been starters on some of the best teams in the league (2021 Bucks, 2021 Suns, 2018 Rockets, 2020 Heat, 2022 Heat, 2022 Suns, etc.) Grant is only 23 and already just as good as those guys (if not better, in some areas of the game) and is less of a headcase than them.
Right now he is maybe better (we can argue that it is not the case) but I think he will never be as good as prime PJ or Crowder. He lacks the tenacity, quickness and most of all Refs' respect to get away with brutally defending stars.
He will never get this respect because he is a good lad and a loud mouth that doesn't stop whining.

Huge Grant guy but yeah he needs to stop being hysterical on the court or he'll never get any respect.

Put up an efficient double-double in 45 minutes. Get in better shape, they said.

Besides playing uncharacteristically above the rim, Grant is also putting the ball on the floor a lot more than he used to.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Re: Grant Williams Thread
Some time ago, maybe a year?? we were discussing who Grant may turn out like one day and many of us had hoped he would be a PJ Tucker like player. Well shame on all of us (I think) because not one ever declared Grant may end up becoming a far better player than PJ ever was.
That is what I am feeling right now. and while I still give Prime PJ and edge on defense, overall Grant's game is becoming so diversified. He was once a steady knock down shooter from the baseline, but that's it. Now he not only hits from every where, he cuts to the rim, puts the ball on the floor, creates at times and even finished far better than I can remember.
that and his ever present "good persona" is what Boston needs on and off the court going forward. Just hope it doesn't cost too much in retaining him.

Re: Grant Williams Thread
Grant was fantastic against the Hawks last night. His offense is good now, both this 3-point shooting and ability to slash to the basket when the opportunity presents itself.

agreed with all that. thing is, guys like PJ Tucker and Jae Crowder typically don't make a ton of money. They're mid level guys who usually don't make much more than $10 mil a year.
But, Grant is still only 23 and getting better all the time. Plus, he brings such good vibes to the team, so good for team culture. I think somewhere around $14 or $15 mil a year (maybe $16?) is good for him - especially since dudes are getting paid more these days. Hope we don't have to go much higher than that, cause then it's less $ we can spend on the rest of the roster..

and last year, that was almost an automatic turnover or blocked shot. Now -- he's actually getting good results more often than not! This is big for our franchise going forward, since we need him to develop into a mini Al.
I say we extend him at 18 per and we all freak out and then like always turns out it was a good value extension.

What comp is he evolving into? More fluid than Tucker -- (without being the ALL MAN defender, too) -- Boris Diaw? Older/post-injuries Larry Johnson? I got nothing. I agree the floor -- not the ceiling -- for his value is hopefully in the realm of Tucker and/or Crowder. But I can't picture a ceiling, and his playstyle is evolving in a really encouraging way.

closest comps I got are still Tucker, Crowder and Larry Nance Jr
