Yeah so... Siakam.
it's more credible coming from me, since i'm not a Raps fan but no doubt
For Siakam to get consideration, the Raps need to be top 2 or 3 seed in the East.
Game, blouses.

I don’t think any rational person would have anyone ahead of Giannis right now. Jokic is amazing, but Giannis is clearly leading at the moment.

I think Toronto can do it

If Giannis can carry Milwaukee to a top 3 seed in the East, he should be the favorite. That team just isn't that good outside of Giannis especially on offense.

Right now, maybe. But Middleton is missing (20ppg) and two great shooters as Joe Ingles and Pat Connaughton are missing as well. Pretty good roster they have. And they know how to defend, actually.
Giannis clearly favourite, because the Bucks will fly this season, and Denver, Dallas and specially Philadelphia are not looking really good yet. But season is very long though.
Outside Giannis, Jokic, Embiid and Luka, I only see Tatum and Ja Morant fighting for the MVP. The thing with Tatum is that he is not as consistent as other the players, and we will see many games that will be carried by jaylen brown. Ja Morant will be the absolute leader, if Memphis can have a great record he will be in the conversation.
Siakam is playing amazing, but he not as dominant as those guys. And Devin Booker is amazing also, but still, I don't think he is as dominant as the best players in the league. (But he should be in the poll, instead of Paul George, LOL).
Curry is 34 and he will miss many games, he is not interested in MVPs but in rings right now. And Lillard is playing as God, but Blazers record will harm him at the end.

I thought the Sixers gonna be good and we also had some uknown quantity about teams like the Hawks or Nets
it's safe to say that health permitting, the Bucks will def be a top 3 seed and probably higher
don't forget Midds is supposed to come back soon
Voters calculate teammates to a certain degree, as we saw last year with Jokic's 2nd MVP
This is between Giannis and Jokic atm and will probably stay that way, especially if both will be healthy and play enough games
I think the Bucks will be a higher seed than the Nuggets and if you factor in voter fatigue - Giannis is ahead right now
their running mate for MVP these last couple of seasons (Embiid) is out of the race for now
There are guys that can get back in, long season ahead of us but as of Rn it's Giannis 1A and Jokic 1B
without voter fatigue the A and B would probably be reversed but it is what it is, Jokic will need something extra special to get it again that's just the way it is

This comes down to Tatum and Giannis. I think Tatum takes it because of voter fatigue, but also because people have been sleeping on him for the majority of his career. People always think he's one step behind where he actually is in his development, and so far he's played like the best player in the L this year.
He's at the level of Prime KD right now

The voter fatigue thing with Giannis is **** lol. Is there like a lifetime limit on non US MVPs or something? Dude won his second one 3 years ago and has dominated since.

He's at the level of Prime KD right now
his TS% in his first 5 season from first most recent: 58.6 \ 54.7 \ 56.7 \ 57.6 \ 57.8
after 4 games he has TS% of 68.7
so yeah, A tatum that still defends at a decent level and manages to score 32+ point on 55\37.5\90 splits is a serious contender and probably favoirte (coupled with Botson's expected team success) to win
however, since his shooting will regress to the mean I think eventually he will def be in the conversation and recieve some votes but that wouldn't be enough to win
his defense has been okay, nothing to write home about
KD in his prime was as good as this hot shooting Tatum (and significantly better than actual regressed to the mean Tatum) and was also a better defender imo, simply beause of the limited effect of wing defender vs. big men defender
to overcome being a wing (and much smaller) than prime KD, he needs more that even this shooting streak
not alot more, but more
He's not prime KD and he probably never reach that level but that's not a knock on Tatum at all, very few players in NBA history have reached such a level

there is no voter fatigue regarding Giannis
if anything, the Voter fatigue regarding Jokic - sends extra votes his way, coupled with voters who thought he should have won it last year etc
if Giannis continues like this and the Bucks are a high seed, he's the fronrunner
not leading by much but still firmly in the lead imo

Pascal isn't going to be a true MVP candidate in the end. Top 10 probably.
Which is simply incredible. Who would have thought Pascal would get to this level.

It's Luka's year. He's going to win it. Dallas will have a top 2-3 team in the West.

He lost to a non US player the last two years, so this doesn’t even make sense. Also he didn’t deserve to win it either of the two seasons. To act like there was a robbery when his team didn’t have a top 5 record either year, he didn’t have the best box-score production of the award contenders, and he didn’t have the best advanced metrics is really weird. He also missed a decent number of games. Without any of those, he didn’t have a strong argument over the other guys.

You think Luka because you think he is best player on earth or that the voters gonna just give it to him based on his previous playoff performance?
I ask because right now he is in the second tier of MVP candidates based on the super early results (4 games in lol) and there are at least 5 guys playing better so far.
If you asked me to bet money, I would see Luka getting it based on voters picking him even if other guys are having better regular seasons because it’s an opinion poll.

Re: 2022-23 NBA MVP Discussion (Pt.1)
Its Giannis right now with Jokic being close(of course he will never get the 3rd but he is there).
Denver should be fighting for #1 seed but they dont look so great outside of Jokic. Yesterday even fing Lakers made a run when he was on the bench. He was +28 in game they won by 11 and its always the same story.
For Giannis i will not waste words, just look at stats, its enough...he's on mission right now.

Re: 2022-23 NBA MVP Discussion (Pt.1)
The craziest thing about Jokic being the best offensive player in the game is the small amount of possessions he consumes relatively speaking.
There are six players with a Per higher than 30 this year. Look at their usage rates:
Giannis 37.2
Luka 41.1
Ja 36.1
Wood 31.3
Tatum 30.1
Jokic 22.9
He ranks #72 in the league in usage rate below players like Malik Monk, Bobby Portis and even pass first Tyus Jones. It’s crazy, to me, the impact that a player can have just by facilitating an offense often without getting a statistic as a result. Some could say that his low usage rate suggests he’s playing passive which is a detriment to the team, but at the same time, he’s simply the most selfless player in the league and a zebra can’t change its stripes. It’s just fun to watch a guy dominate so much by doing so little statistically, if that makes any sense lol

I find that the MVP vote is very narrative based. Like Russ winning it for averaging a triple double even though I believe OKC at the time was the 5th or 6th seed at the time.
Jokic won it twice now so I very doubt he'll get a 3rd in a row. He's great, but there is also voter fatigue. It'll come down to Giannis and Luka in my opinion, and if both the Bucks and Mavs have similar records, the voters will pick Luka since he hasn't won it before. At least that's what my gut is telling me.
