Team Player Options?

Post#1 » by JBSouthpaw » Mon Oct 17, 2022 12:03 pm

There are a few players with their last option year out there(2023-2024). Isn't the date before the season starts?
Has anyone seen anything on:

Cole-$5.5M (assume it will be picked up)
Okeke-$5.2M ( likely it will be picked up, still a good price for a bench player)
RJ - $4.2M (IDK, not sure about this one)

Was looking at the CAP, if any of these, along with Bol and Bamba's 23-24 not guaranteed, Ross and M.Wags FAs we could end up with quite the roster turnover.

They were all picked up last year.

We’re just waiting on Suggs and Wagner’s options to be picked up.

Edit: Misunderstood the date. They exercised their 2022-2023 season, so yeah, Orlando do need to get on that for 5 guys I believe.

I would imagine they're all picked up.

Okeke is honestly the one I wouldn't pick up; you could find a 2nd round pick to give you the value he brings. Not to mention having 2 1st round picks this year almost makes it seem like either RJ or Okeke spot could be up for grabs.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Agree and you can't even count on unloading them for a pick if you do keep them. I'd choose the flexibility over the players...Playtime is over, time to keep guys that can play or replace guys that can't...even if they're nice or still appear to have some untapped upside. Every contract has to be considered vs more FA dollars, IMO...Guys like Isaac & Fultz are worth a little more patience - but not a lot more.

Wagner and Anthony are no-brainers. I think Wagner is a strong starter, maybe more. Anthony will one day be a great first guard off the bench. Okeke and Hampton are close enough to locks. Probably both eventually solid rotation guys.

I’d decline Suggs’ option. He’s never available, always hurt. If they shorten the season, he’d be worth it. But, dude will never play more than 55 games a year.

Hate to say it but this may be true. I hope Suggs proves us wrong but he concerns me.

Well, that's certainly a take. Okeke looks like he's closer to being sent to Lakeland than he is to being a lock for his option.

I don't know what the hell they're doing with Hampton.

I still think they'll pick them all up.

Today is the day, did we exercise anyone’s options?

10/31 looks to be the deadline to accept them

Thanks. Is it just me or do we always do these at the last minute?

don't see a big benefit to declining or accepting until the date comes, seems like it's more procedural thing.

I would think it would be easier on the players so they aren’t so anxious but it is what it is.
