All these "Praying for Josh Primo" peeps on twitter probably need to just settle down and be quiet until the details of this come out. You don't waive a 19-year old lottery pick 5-games into the season unless it's a really bad situation...

The median severity Primo rumor (all totally unsubstantiated) is like "KO'd his grandmother."

The elite D last year was based on playing only 7 or 8 guys, a healthy Time Lord, and Horford playing like he was ten years younger. That can certainly happen again, but that D is not elite with Kornet getting minutes.

It's not working, at least not for me. He must have done something absolutely awful and sudden because the Spurs extended him and then waived him. It must have been so awful that he clearly had no trade value anymore. Every guess in this thread is probably so far off the mark.

Primo had crazy high potential on the court (probz Garland level) Obviously has made a terrible decision for them to cut him

Re: Around the League
If this was something criminal that he's going to catch charges for, wouldn't the org just keep him and suspend him from team activities until the courts sorted it out?
If it was some mental health affliction like self-harm/drug abuse I really don't think the Spurs would waive him so coldly.
If he was just being a dick to his teammates or to coaches they'd trade him, not forfeit his rights altogether.
It's something that exists in a weird gray area between these three things and it's hard not to be curious as to what it is. I have one theory that would square everything above away but I don't want to go that far with baseless speculation.

Re: Around the League
Magic won their first game last night, and Cole Anthony was out with an injury. Definitely see a correlation there.
Also Haliburton continues to tear it up. 23/4/10 on season on great percentages
Also Sixers win with no Embiid. I’m in the trade Joel for a big haul camp for that team.

I'm wondering if the Bucks ever did anything as dumb as the Kings trading Hali. How does the Ray Allen trade compare?

Ray had been in the league 7 years and had bad ankles. GP was a HOF’er. Feel like perceived value gap wasn’t nearly as great for that deal.

I feel like the Ray trade was worse. Ray was a 26 year old 3 time all star at the time of the trade who became a hall of famer. Dealing that for 2 months of an aging Gary Payton to me is worse than flipping a young exciting player in Haliburton for Sabonis who himself was a 25 year old 2 time all star at the time
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Re: Around the League
Haliburton for Sabonis isn’t close to the Ray trade imo. That whole fiasco was the result of a pissing match between Ray and Karl with George’s ego winning over common sense. Ray was a young star who wanted to play his career here and be an ambassador for the organization and city. Still can’t fathom why Kohl sided with a stubborn douche like Karl who had already lost the team.

Keldon Johnson doesn't get talked about enough as an awesome young player as he should be.

I'll be honest, for the last 3-4 years all the Spurs young guys have blurred together for me

Johnson is fun, he plays with a ridiculous energy and is a menace attacking the rim. He's on the rise now that he appears to be a deadeye shooter to couple with his other strengths, you'll be hearing much more about him this season cuz it looks like the Spurs are better than we thought.

Eh, back in 2003 many of us were fed up with Ray. He was soft and there were serious concerns with the ankle. We’re judging the deal based on the relative value at the time the trade was made. The Ray trade went on to look much worse, because Ray unbelievably went on to play another 12 years at a high level and healthy. That wasn’t in the expectations book of anyone
